Dad expected me to be home straight after work so I could help Mom. Not to mention Sarah had begged me to come home early so the two of us could listen to the radio for awhile. When I left the house this morning I had every intention of doing so. But now work was finished and the city called to me. Adventure was a foreign word to my parents. While most of our friends were rich and living the high life, my Dad and I worked everyday to keep up with Sarah’s medical bills and still have enough to eat. The smell of the Atlantic ocean and the sound of horns honking from passing ships called for me to walk the long way home.
