12. Chapter 11

The next day Jack and Ben left to go back to New York, where they've been living. We said our goodbyes and Hunter picked Luke, London, and I for school. Luke was silent the whole ride there.

"Well, see you at lunch, babe," Hunter said and kissed me when we got to my locker. I smiled and watched as he rushed off to his class. For once I can be happy and not jealous of Luke and Arzaylea's relationship. But I haven't seen Luke with Arzaylea when we walked in, I thought. In fact, I saw Luke walk straight to his locker and to class right after. No making out with Arzaylea before class. He's probably okay, I thought again but I couldn't convince myself he was.

"Hey, Andy!" April chirped as she stood next to me. I gave her a small smile. "What's wrong?" she asked.

"Nothing," I answered and tried to said convincingly. April knew me well enough that it wasn't just 'nothing' but she went along with it.

We met on the soccer field where Ashton and Calum said the practice was. I told Luke all he needed to know about the game so he didn't make a fool of himself. I sat on the bleachers and watched.

Luke did great so far. When someone passed it to him he kicked until he found someone that was open. A few mistakes but not big ones.

After practice, Luke and I walked home. I asked Hunter to get London from school and take her home since the practice was going to be awhile. Hunter doesn't understand why I had to be there but I felt I had to. This was something new for Luke and I wanted to be there for him.

"So... How was practice? Did you enjoy it?" I asked as we walked home together. The silence was awkward so I wanted to change that.

"It was. I wish Troet had soccer. It would make the town kids really happy," Luke answered. I smiled. I loved to listen to Luke talk about his kingdom. He really loved his people.

"What is Troet like?" I asked. Luke scrunched up his face. That is what he does when he is trying to think. I think it's so cute. Stop it, Andy! You're with Hunter! You liked him ever since you were in kindergarten, I thought.

"It's like the kingdoms you read in fairy tales. When my dad was about to be king he was arranged to marry a woman he didn't want to marry. My grandmother made my grandfather host a ball so he can find his right woman. That is when he found my mother. She was a peasant with evil parents," he answered.

"Like Cinderella," I added in.

"Yeah... My grandfather didn't allow it and neither did my mother's family but at the end, they got married and never parted."

"What happened to your father?" I asked. I almost didn't because I didn't want to hurt him but I needed to know or wanted to know more about it.

"He went to war to one of the kingdoms near Troet and died but we won. At least he died victoriously," Luke explained. A small smile appeared on his face.
