"Oh, who am I kidding? He's not coming..... He said to meet him here on this bench at 5:30, it's 5:45, he's not coming," Luna thought to herself, "He knew how I felt about him..... But he was so sweet and flattering...... I shouldn't have let him get to me."
Her eyes slowly filled with tears as the seconds ticked by. She was about to get up and leave, when a warm pair of hands covered her eyes, gently tilting her head back.
"Sorry I'm late, are you ready?" Draco asked as he removed his hands.
He was leaning on the bench from behind smiling down at her. Then he frowned.
"Luna, what's wrong?" Draco asked scanning the tears that were slowly starting to freeze in the bitter air on her rosy cheeks.
Luna jumped up and ran up to him hugging him tightly.
"Whoa!" Draco exclaimed, caught off guard by her sudden movement.
"I thought you stood me up," She whispered into his robes.
"I would never do that, at least not to you," Draco replied hugging her to his chest.
When she pulled away, he immediately took her hand and used his fingers to lightly tickle her palm. Luna giggled as they made their way to The Three Broomsticks. When they got out of the nipping cold and into the warmth, Luna went to find a table and Draco went up to the bar to get their butterbeers.
They quietly sipped their drinks before Luna said, "So, Draco, have you ever been to the kitchens?"
Draco, who was sipping his butterbeer, raised his eyebrow before answering. He swallowed slowly as if he where trying to figure out what to say.
"Well," he started, "no, but I've heard a great deal about it and I have a house elf but that's it."
They talked about what the kitchens could be like, since neither of them had been, for what seemed like hours before Draco started talking about the O.W.L.S. test he had to take this year.
"I've seen the 5th years studying for them it's supposed to be really hard," Luna replied with a small shudder.
Draco laughed and paid for the drinks, (ignoring Luna's protests) and they headed back out into the cold to do some window shopping. Luna was having the time of her life until..... WHOMP! Luna slide down a snowy hill and landed on her back, breathless. She heard Draco laughing his head off on the top of the hill and got an idea. Luna sneakily made a snowball and crept up behind him.
Before Draco realized what was happening there was something freezing on his head, falling into his eyes, and he was sliding down the hill like Luna had.
Back to Luna
Luna giggled and then gasped as a huge chunk of snow hit her in the face, instantly freezing the left side of her face. She ran behind a tree and grabbed handfuls of snow and throwing them at Draco who had also taken refuge behind a tree and was flinging chunks of snow at Luna. Luna and Draco were rapidly throwing snow not really caring what it hit until....
"OW!" Came a voice from in between the two trees the two where hiding behind.
Luna ran over to Draco and saw Ron, Harry, and Hermione staring at them. Ron had snow trailing down his face, his mouth slightly agar.
"Malfoy?! What are you doing with Luna?!" Ron finally said breaking the awkward silence.
Luna stood there not saying anything just staring at the trio as Draco said, "It's none of your business Weasel!"
Luna glared slightly at Draco. The next thing she knew Ron had walked up and slapped Draco in the face!
"How dare you!" Ron shouted him.
"Ron!" Luna shrieked, "What are you doing!?!"
Draco smiled weakly before saying, "It's alright Luna I'm okay, but I think I just remembered where your bag is, try the shrieking shack"
Luna smiled awkwardly.
"Y-yeah okay I'll go check," she replied looking extremely uncomfortable.
"Don't tell her what to do, Malfoy!" Harry yelled.
Luna's eyes widened as she looked from Draco to the other two boys. Draco gestured for her to go and she slightly nodded her head before going up the path towards the shrieking shack.
The second Luna's blond hair disappeared Draco crossed his arms and glared at the trio. Slowly Ron walked up to Draco, thinking that Ron was going to apologize he relaxed. Out of nowhere there was a blinding pain throughout Draco's nose and he tasted blood before he saw it.
"Ouch!" What'd you do that for!?!" Draco cried out his eyes watering and small white lights blinking in and out of his vision.
"That's for stealing my girl!" Ron shouted at the top of his lungs.
Draco felt a rush of anger.
"Your girl!" He shouted, his anger taking over, "She's mine!"
Draco used his sleeve to try and staunch his increasing nosebleed.
"For your information Malfoy, I was coming here to ask. her. out." Ron replied proudly.
Draco sneered at him."Your too late Weasel, I already asked her out and. She. Said. Yes."
Ron's jaw dropped.
"I told you she was dating someone Ronald!" Hermione said shaking her head.
"Your lying!" Ron said, shaking with anger, "She'd never date skum like you! What'd you do to her threaten her?"
Draco was shocked. "I'm a Slytherin not the Dark Lord!" He exclaimed, "She likes me just face it!"
Just then Luna skipped up to them, her bag swinging freely from her shoulder.
"Draco!" She squealed, Ron clenched his fists tighter at this, "What happened?"
She came over and examined his face pulling out a soft, brown, cloth and gently pushing it to his nose. He winced slightly as she applied more pressure.
"Sorry," she whispered catching him wincing.
"Come on let's get you to the hospital wing so Madam Pomfrey can fix you up.
They left the trio Luna calling 'bye' over her shoulder as they went. He could see the trios confused faces and he smiled.
