My mother was at the door, she didn't look a day over 20 even though she was 30, I noticed succubus age very well. She had long light blond hair with blue eyes, her features resembled mine, she also had a bulging pregnant stomach. She looked at me with fear and sadness in her eyes. "Justin." She said, still staring into my eyes. "Why did you bring her here?" She asked with a sneer. Just cleared his throat and replied. "She is your daughter; you owe her at least a conversation." Tears swelled in her blue eyes, she was wearing a black turtleneck and khaki slacks with knee high fur boots. "If Draco finds out she was here." She began, but Justin interrupted "he won't." He said in a stern voice. She opened the door and gestured for us to come in. We walked right into the living room, it has red leather couches and snow white carpet, and there was a grey stone fire place with a marble mantle. "Sit down." My mother said her voice very shaky.
"You are so beautiful." She said. "So much prettier in person." She said rubbing her hands on the couch that she sat on across from me. "I have pictures." She smiled as she got up, she walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a photo book. "This is your baby book." She said handing it to me. "The first 20 pages or so are from when I had you, all the way up until you were 3." She smiled. I Looked past all the pictures, of when I was a baby, pictures I never thought I would ever see. Then came a picture of my 4th birthday party, and then my 5th and 6th and so on. "How did you get these?" I asked. She laughed, "I've been keeping in touch with Carmen, and she lets me know you're doing every few months. Of coarse she thinks I live in Canada, and promised me that she would keep me contacting her a secret, I'm glad to know she pulled through on her end of the deal." She said. I nodded and looked at copies of my report cards from middle school. "You kept my necklace!" My mother exclaimed. I touched it instinctively and smiled looking down at the sapphire heart, finally understanding why it was that color, "it's the only thing I had from my real parents." I kept staring at her belly. "So do you have anymore kids?" I asked she shook her head positively. "Yes, My son Riley, he is two." I nodded. “Are you going to keep him? Or give him away without a clue of who he is? Will you leave him a necklace? No he's a boy, you would probably leave a watch or something.” My mother flinched; the words were like a dagger to her, good. I thought. “We learned our lesson; we are going to keep him.” I nodded; I felt tears roll down my face. “Why did you give me up? I want to hear it from the horse’s mouth.” I looked at her. She sighed, “Your father and I were stupid, and we broke the rules and mated. When I found out I was pregnant, we had to make it look like the baby was an ordinary succubus, not of the royal bloodline. I had to control myself; because I had mated with Draco I became royal, making my energy turn blue. My best friend Daniel said he would be the baby’s surrogate father, he would say the baby was his.” She breathed heavily, rubbing her stomach. “Draco didn’t want you to grow up Royal, you would be tortured, disciplined, it would be hell, you would be forced into a monarchy that he didn’t want any part of. We figured once you were old enough to let your energy show, It would be too late to force you into the monarchy. When you came out a girl, everything changed, the prophesy would be fulfilled weather you liked it or not, they would force you into the monarchy weather you were 13 or 30, It didn’t matter, There had never been a female born royal. We knew that even if we managed to keep the truth hidden till you were 13 your fate wouldn’t change. We got rid of you, to protect you.” She cried. “Kimberly, I mean Amy.” She started. “You are back; they are going to make you a monarch regardless, I am so sorry darling.” She whimpered. We heard the front door open, A tall brown haired man with a clean shaven face walked in, carrying a 2 year old dirty blond haired boy, he was wearing white A dress shirt and navy blue dress pants with black penny loafers. He smiled at my mother with sparkling white teeth, he set the boy down and then his eyes met mine, this eyes began to glow sapphire. “Why is she here?” he growled. “Kayla, we talked about this.” He said sternly. My mom looked down, submissive “I’m sorry Draco.” He shook his head as the little boy ran to Kayla. “Mama!” he laughed, she kissed his cheek. This must be Riley. I thought. “She is just a reminder that the past 13 years have been for nothing.” He spat. I stood up, “Im right here, Draco, don’t talk like I’m not.” I spoke evenly. “Do you know how much we sacrificed for you to be free?” he asked. I walked to the front door and almost opened it. “Do you know how my life has been?” I spat, venom in my words. “When I was 13, I killed my boyfriend, I didn’t know, I had no idea what I was. Then another boy kissed me, he’s dead too. I felt their unending pain, I know what it feels like to die. Have you ever killed anybody Draco? I wondered why I was born, if I would ever be happy, or kiss a boy, or have kids. I didn’t know how many more people I might hurt, I’ve considered suicide many times.” I finished. I rolled up my sleeves and showed him the cuts that ran up my wrists. “You got to grow up knowing what to do, what you were, what to expect.” I cried. “You grew up with others of your kind, I grew up alone, I just wish I could have known.” I stated. “And now that I’m in a place full of my own kind, surrounded by those who love me, the only people who don’t are the ones who created me.” Tears flooded my heated cheeks. “Amy.” Justin said. “What?” I yelled. “You need to calm down.” He said with authority in his voice. He pointed to the decorative mirror near the door. I looked in it, My eyes were bright glowing blue, the veins in my face were bulging and blue. I tried to calm myself down, taking deep breathes, I felt hungry. “What if they hadn’t found me before I went crazy an killed tons of people?” I asked Draco. Draco looked down, not answering. “I know you don’t see me as your daughter, but imagine doing the same thing to Riley, putting him through that hell.”I said, I ripped the necklace off and tossed it to him, "you might need this for next time you abandon one of your children." I then opened the door and walked out.
