Can we pretend that airplanes

In the night sky are like shooting stars?

I could really use a wish right now

Wish right now

Colbie Mangas hasn't always been on edge.

She sits on the ledge, dangling her bare feet into the night air, watching the stars.  She knows every constellation by heart, and recognized a few new ones.

Every time the Enemy decides to show his face, she loses something.  She already lost her innocence the first time she ever spoke to him.  What more was there to lose?

Her family.  Her friends.  Her first love.  Her life.  They were the answers to the question she was asked so many times by others.  Others who knew her life story and didn't care.  Others who sided with Cronus, and wanted to tease her.

She won't let anyone know, but she fears him.  She can no longer sleep because the nightmares threaten to retreat with what little sanity she still has.

The black-haired girl watches airplane lights move across the night sky.

Some days, she wishes for the war to be over.

Jay Parker was never the one to shake in the presence of fear.

He sits up, awakening from a nightmare.  He can’t stop shaking.  Why must he suffer from this when he knows full well everything should be over?

For Jay, it’s a difficult process recovering from insomnia.

“It’ll be okay,” he mutters to himself before lying back down.

*           *           *

Yeah, I could use a dream or a genie or a wish

To go back to a place much simpler than this

Cause after all the partying and smashing and crashing

And all the glitz and the glam and the fashion

And all the pandemonium and all the madness

There comes a time where you fade to the blackness

And when you staring at that phone in your lap

And you’re hoping but them people never call you back

Odie Anderson can’t shake the feeling someone is watching him.

He never felt it before, the paranoia.  He was never one to even fall to his knees and beg for a higher power to save him and his friends.

Tonight, however, Odie decides to kneel in prayer, and not in absolute fear of death.  He kneels in absolute resolution that what his friends talked about on Sundays is the truth.

*           *           *

But that’s just how the story unfolds

You get another hand soon after you fold

And when your plans unravel in the sand

What would you wish for if you had one chance?

So airplane, airplane, sorry I’m late

I’m on my way so don’t close that gate

If I don’t make it then I’ll switch my flight

And I’ll be right back at it by the end of the night

Herry Laurier isn’t feeling very hungry.

For the first time since he came to New Olympia, Herry is full after his first plate.  This, he finds very weird.

He usually goes for his three in the morning meal at this time, and he’s usually ravenous.  The dreams he has are always weird, beginning with battle and then things slowly turn into food.

For some reason, his dreams did none of that tonight.  Instead, they stayed focused on the battle and he watched his best friend die in it.

And he worries for the girl he calls his sister because of this omen.

Archie Henson stays up writing poetry.

He waits daily for the time when everyone is off doing their own thing or sleeping.  He waits for the time he can be alone and work on his hobby.  He waits for this, and he savours these precious moments he has alone.

The purple-haired warrior thinks of the things he’s seen worth putting to paper.  Archie isn’t much of a story-teller, but he loves his collection of books spanning anywhere from fantasy to sci-fi.  Each idea, he’s noted and decides to try something different each time because of this.

Two years of late-night creativity keeps Archie going in the long war against Time.  It keeps his mind awake at all times, and it keeps him from losing his sanity.

It also helps with keeping his band alive.  They decided long ago to stray from covers and go into original works.  Thanks to Archie, they were able to do that.  Thanks to Colbie’s amazing voice, they were noticed by local recording companies, and were even invited onto Harmony’s radio show.

He writes poetry.  To give him something to vent about.  To give Colbie a reason to sing.  To give the world a reason to fight.

JD Parker reads into the night.

It’s not like she can’t sleep anymore.  It’s more like the nights when Cronus leaves them alone leaves them with nothing to do.  Besides, reading is good for the soul.  It helps with her memories, especially the ones she can barely remember.

The book she is reading is one her brother said her mother read to her as a kid.  Of course, she wouldn’t remember much from her childhood with her family.  As a recovering amnesiac, this would help her tremendously.

She reads about how the princess decides to fight for herself for once, rather than wait around for some prince to come.  JD understands why she liked this story as a kid.

That princess is her.  That prince is her memories.  And her brother is obviously the old man that gives the princess her sword.

JD smiles as she closes her book.  She sees why her brother would want her to read such an important book that made up her childhood.

            So she remembers.

Yeah, yeah, somebody take me back to the days

Before this was a job, before I got paid

Before it even mattered what I had in my bank

Yeah, back when I was trying to get a tip at Subway

And back when I was rapping for the hell of it

But nowadays we rapping to stay relevant

I’m guessing that if we can make some wishes out of airplanes

Then maybe, yo, maybe I’ll go back to the days

Theresa Williams waits.

What she waits for, she has no idea.  She went to sleep at nine, waking up at three, and walking out to the roof.  All she knows is she is to wait.

She’s had this feeling before.  Before she ever came to New Olympia, she waited for her father to come home as a girl.  As a teenager, she waited for him to notice her.

Now she waits for something.  For what, she doesn’t know, but she knows to wait.

Before the politics that we call the rap game

And back when ain’t nobody listen to my mixtape

And back before I tried to cover up my slang

But this is for the hater, what’s up Bobby Ray?

So can I get a wish

To end the politics

And get back to the music

That started this shit?

So here I stand and then again I say

I’m hoping we can make some wishes out of airplanes

Neil Henderson is the loneliest creature in the world some days.

He doesn’t connect well with others, for starters.  None of them seem to have his level of personality.  He doesn’t interact well with others because he can’t connect to them on a personal level.  He gets nervous in front of people when giving a speech and ends up mumbling and stuttering his way through.

This is how he and Colbie became friends.

They shared an English class together a year ago, and this was back while they still hated each other.  Neil was to give a presentation on Lady Macbeth’s monologue when he saw ice blue eyes watching him coldly.  Feeling so belittled, he mumbled his way through it, and sat down as soon as he was able.  After that class, he headed out of the room as quickly as he could.

He didn’t escape her because she was following him.  “Where ya headed?” she asked.

            “Nowhere in particular.”

“Really?  Sure looked like you were heading to the bathroom.”

“Just to fix up my hair.”

“And to puke.  You looked a little green in front of the class, there, Neil.”

            “I-I did?”

“Yep.  Could’ve sworn you were gonna faint there for a second.  Public anxiety?”  Her ice blue eyes were, surprisingly, warm.  “You know, you can talk to me about it.  I’m here for you, too, y’know.”

“Wait, what?  I thought you hated me.”

She gave him a sad smile.  “After seeing you so vulnerable, I feel like I’ve been a complete ass to you.  And I’m sorry.”

“You-you’re sorry?  For being an ass when it was me being like that the whole time?”

            “You bet.  Wanna be friends?”

Neil stared at her for a good five minutes before, “S-sure.”

Neil smiles at the memory now.  That was the first time someone apologized to him for being a total ass, and offering her friendship as an apology offer.

And, to be honest, it’s nice knowing that someone has his back.

If there’s one thing Atlanta Greene can’t wait for, it’s hockey season, especially after seeing a certain anime.

For her, it’s Team Canada all the way.  Others root for their own home countries, like Team USA or even Team Greece.

It’s not her fault she was so competitive about hockey.  Atlanta is Canadian, and hockey will always be her favorite sport.

She wonders, however, will Russia put up another good fight in the final period.

For the goddess of war, night was a time to relax.

Athena spends all day either at meetings with the other Olympian gods or at the dorm making food for the bottomless pit that is Herry.  She plays nurse when the kids bring in one of their own wounded, and she plays housemaid when they sleep.

She loves these kids as if they are her own.  They keep her on her toes day in and day out, and she enjoys cooking for them as they always compliment her food.

Athena, as the goddess of war, misses the battlefield, though.  And when Hera asked her to take the new ones in under her wing, Athena was ecstatic.  The other gods all had someone to train, and the two new ones were all alone.

She had started with JD a year and a half ago, teaching her the art of controlling powers beyond what she was capable of.  As time wore on, Athena could see the girl grow, and begin to demonstrate other abilities.

Colbie, however, is a mystery to her.  Athena has noticed in the year she’s been here, Colbie has not demonstrated any sort of power whatsoever.  It makes her wonder why she is even here at all.

And then she sees the work paid off in the few group training sessions she leads.  Colbie is able to fend off Jay, and she doesn’t go down without a fight against Herry.  Athena understands why Colbie is here when she sees her training with the others.

Athena understands Colbie is here to complete their family.
