2. New Home
I woke up to my mom shaking me. I guess I had slept in because we were leaving around 1 and it was already noon. Greyson was still sitting next to me, but she was awake and enjoying a sandwich my dad had gotten her from McDonald's. Seeing the house empty brought tears to my eyes, yea I wanted to leave in the past, but I never thought I'd actually move. The leaky ceiling was something I could
live without, rain plus my room equals flood. I chuckled remembering the time my brother and I spent switching out 5 gallon buckets every ten minutes during a rain storm.
I grabbed the sandwich my mom was holding for me and starting eating. I wasn't very happy with the whole situation, which caused me to be angry with my mom and her friend who came up with this idea to move by her. This wasn't just a little move! This was a 2,430 mile move! It was an idea that soon became reality. What could I do to stop it?
My dad and brother hopped in the truck and my mom, Greyson and I all drove the SUV. We had to drop Greyson off and that was probably the hardest thing I had to do, not knowing when I'll see her again. My emotions took over when we left her driveway, I sobbed for about 5 minutes. It was a long drive with many stops, car switches and hotels, but we got there about four days later.
I stared widely at the house. It was bigger than our previous home, but I still had to take the smaller room because my brother slept in a walk in closet for 12 years. I had a feeling I was going to like it here, but I still can't bring myself to say it's home, or going to be home.
