10. I Wish I Didn't Have to
"Um guys." I say for the first time at lunch today. They all stop laughing and turn to me. "Yeah?" Sean asks. I sigh. "My parents said that I don't belong at this school." They gasp. "What?" Mark asks. "They think that this won't give me a good life and YouTube is useless to anyone and everyone." I tell them. Sean takes my hands in his. "But we'll see you right?" He asks. I look down at the dirty floor. "We're moving," I say. I look back up at him. "I'm sorry." I whisper. I stand up and pick up my lunch box, full of untouched food. Sean stands up,too. "Emily, what are you doing?" He asks. "I'm sorry." I repeat, putting down my lunchbox on the table. I take his face in my hands and kiss him. I let go of his face and grab my lunchbox. I walk out of the room and go to the gymnasium. I sit on the bleachers, setting down my lunchbox beside me. I hear the door open. "Emily," Sean says when he sees me and sits beside me. "We can still text each other. And call. It's gonna be alright." He tells me. "No,Sean,it won't. Long distance relationships don't work. The couple just drifts away. I don't want that,Sean. I don't want that." I tell him. We sit in silence until the bell rings and he leaves. I sit and wait. For nothing.
