“Go on then but just a small one.’
“Get the lemonade oot the fridge will yer.’
Mickey poured out the drinks then poured some lemonade in for the girls.’
“We are going to bed after this one mind said Shirley we have to be up sharp for the wreck dive.’
“You will be wrecked Mickey if you carry on drinking said Alison, look at you; you’re swayin’ like a boat.
“Sit down matey.’
“Well its wor last day tomorrow lads an lasses.’ We better make the most of it as it will be another year before we get oot again.’
“Here’s to the next one eh?’
Tom finished his drink and left Shirley to finish hers as he went to the toilet.’
Mickey had brought out the bottle onto the balcony and was about to pour himself another drink when Alison removed the bottle.’ Come on lets get you to bed.’
“Bed, since when have I needed a nanny.’
“Since you got yourself pissed now come on or I’m leavin’ you oot here on yer own.’
“Whey you can please your Bessie.’
Alison and Shirley got up and left him talkin’ away to himself.’
Tom was already in bed when Shirley came in and she stripped off in the darkness and got in beside Tom.
They curled up together and went to sleep.’
An hour later Mickey had fallen asleep in the chair on the balcony Alison just left him and turned over.
When Tom woke up it was quarter to eight Shirley was ready. He threw on another pair of swimming trunks and his shorts and tee shirt. Shirley had been down stairs and had made them a sandwich and packed some drinks into the canvas bag.
“We had better get some breakfast because we will get cramp with nothing on our stomachs.’
They saw Mickey asleep on the floor of the balcony he had grabbed two cushions and lay down. He was snoring away loudly as they left.
They headed for a nearby table then Tom went to get them two breakfasts. Tom ate a large full English and even went back again for more.’
“Alcohol always makes me hungry.’
“I don’t know how you are so skinny.’
“Me skinny; its all natural muscle wi me.’
“Wor dog is fatter than you Tom.’
It was true, Tom had a natural lean frame he was built like a marathon runner, and his washboard abdominal muscles stood out. Tom was finishing his second cup of coffee then burped loudly.’
“I should think so as well.’
“It’s only your stomach saying thank you.’
“Thank you, in your case it’s telling you that your belly is overloaded.’
Tom grabbed the bags and was off like a rabbit down a warren as he headed towards the harbour.’
Sergio Rodriguez was checking all the breathing apparatus when they got there.
“You are the first here.’
“Let’s hope that the others turn up.’
