“Aye I could bring a bottle of vodka around.’
I could only have a couple of drinks mind you as if I get pissed; I would lose my babysitting job and she gives me two pound a week for looking after her kids.’
How many has she got?’
“Three, there are two girls and a little boy. He’s only one year old.’
“Three kids, how old is she?’
“Twenty four and three kids already.’
“I’m not having kids until I’m at least thirty said Mickey as he stubbed out the cigarette.
“Come here and give is a kiss said Mickey.’
“You come over here.’
“Alright then said Mickey as he walked towards her and leant in for a kiss.
“Do you call that a kiss; you need some practice she said as she took hold of Mickey and their lips came together.
In the dance hall Tom was getting on alright with Shirley; he’d bought her a bottle of Lemonade and she seemed impressed when he told her that he was an apprentice baker and confectioner. She said that she worked with Sharon Kelly in Timpson’s Shoe shop.’
“When Mickey returned Tom and Shirley were still chatting.’
“We are going out this Friday night mate.’
“Yep,’ the girls are coming to Uncle Tom’s Cabin.’
“Tom looked at Shirley and shrugged his shoulders.’
“You are coming Shirley aren’t you?’
“I will have to if you are going.’
“Great said Mickey that’s settled and on Saturday we are going babysitting with the girls.
“Where did you say that house was?’
Kent Road, number twelve.’
Come on lets have another few dances before we walk you two home.’
The got up and danced to “Rock around the Clock” and Shake Rattle and Roll by Bill Haley and the Comets, “Maybellene” by Chuck Berry, and “Ain’t that a Shame” by Fat’s Domino,’ and finished the night with a slow dance by “The Penguin’s called “Earth Angel.’
Tom got to hold Shirley in his arms for the first time and he liked the feel of the softness of her skin as they moved around.
When the dance was over the lights went back on and everyone made for the doors.
Mickey and Tom walked the girls over the road and stood beside the shops as Alison told them that they live just a few doors up. Tom kissed Shirley good night the softness of her lips left him wanting more but Alison told the lads that they would have to go.
Tom waved as they made their way up the street.
“Well we are in said Mickey as they walked back down the road the cold air was making Tom shiver and he walked faster in order to keep warm.
“Looks like guaranteed shag on Saturday night my friend.’
“What you’re going to shag someone when there’s three kids in the house.’
“Why not, they will all be asleep by nine o’clock. That gives us two hours to get them into bed. I will go up first with Alison and then you can go up with Shirley.’
