"Bye, Mum." I say, hugging her.
"Be safe, Rose." she says.
I nod, then board the train without saying a word to Dad. Once I find Scorpius and Albus in a compartment, I sit down next to them.
"How long are you going to give Ron the silent treatment, Rose?" Albus asks.
"Until he admits that he's being stupid over some lame grudge and lets me do what I want." I say stubbornly.
"So, aren't you not allowed to be near me?" Scorpius asks.
"Oh, come on." I say. "Do you really think that I'm going to listen to a word he said?" I scoff.
"Rose," Albus starts, but I cut him off.
"Are you really going to side with him, Albus?" I ask incredulously.
"No, Rose, I was just going to say that your dad looks really sad right now." Albus says, pointing out the window.
When I look out, I see my dad staring at me, a sad look on his face. He raises a hand to wave to me, but I draw the shade down.
Peeking out another window, I see him staring at the drawn shade of the window with tears in his eyes, and I almost feel bad. Almost, but not quite. I'm still angry enough to get a sense of satisfaction from his expression, and I go back into my compartment.
"Rose, I know you're mad at him, but shouldn't you at least try to talk to him?" Albus asks.
"No. Now I'm going to change into my robes. I'll be back in a minute." I say, and stalk out of the compartment.
Once I return from changing my robes, Albus and Scorpius stop talking abruptly, which tells me they were talking about me.
"So, guys." I say, sitting down and resting my head on Scorpius's shoulder. "What to you want to do when we get back to Hogwarts?"
Talk of school, Quidditch, friends, pranks, and lots of other meaningless topics carry us through the train ride until we arrive at Hogwarts.
"I'll see you guys later, I have to go talk to Elizabeth, Nicole, and Alyea." I say, and hurry off to find my friends.
"Niki! Lizzie! Allie!" I call down the hallway once I spot them turning towards the Common Room.
"Rosie!" They call back.
I run up to them, and we hug.
"Okay, we have so much to catch up on." says Allie, ever the social butterfly.
"Yes! So, how was your Christmas?" I ask.
"It was wonderful!" the three triplet sisters say at the same time.
"My mum got me this beautiful necklace. It's enchanted with protective charms!" Niki says.
"Well, Mum got me this ring that can duplicate anything it touches, but only when I want it to." Allie argues.
"What did you get, Lizzie?" I ask.
"I got a lot of my favorite books!" Lizzie, the bookworm, says. We talk about Christmas, boys, our holiday, and any other topic we can think of until dinner.
"Come on! I'm starving." Niki says.
"We're coming!" I say, laughing.
Once we're in the Great Hall, we sit at the Gryffindor table. Albus and Scorpius sit down on my right side, while the triplets are on my left.
After we eat a delicious dinner, McGonagall dismisses us to our common rooms, warning us to stay put and not to wander the castle, or we'll get detention. Laughing, I head up to Gryffindor Tower with my friends, argument with Dad temporarily forgotten.
