Robb

Robb stared at where Lucifer had been standing merely two minutes ago, waiting for the onslaught. He knew Mia and Isaac would ask questions and he knew Naomi would be pissed off, but he also knew he needed a plan, and he needed to get Naomi back into her own body. He knew now that because Lucifer knew the truth, it was less dangerous, and it would also be better in the long run, for everyone, if Naomi had her own body back and Nicole could be on their side. Let alone Anna; holy fuck he had a lot more explaining to do, judging by the confused look on her face.

Lucifer had also promised to kill him; he had promised to kill Robb, in front of Naomi or Nicole, whichever, and he had promised to take Naomi back.

Lucifer knew the truth. He did, and he was going to prove it to all of them. Shit.

They had to do something, and they had to do something fairly soon. Robb stared at Nicole, or Naomi, whichever one was mostly in there at that moment and he sighed deeply. This shit meant his life was in danger, but not only that, Naomi was in danger, even more danger than she probably was before she died. Nicole was now in danger too. And Anna was in danger as well, and that, Robb wasn’t happy about at all. Okay, so Lucifer knew Naomi was in there, but did he really need to threaten Nicole’s life as well as Naomi’s and Robb’s? How was that fair? How was it even conceivable to endanger Anna in all this? She was the innocent, sweet, gorgeous… oh man, Robb had realised, he was in love with Anna. He looked at her, her wide, scared eyes and realised how much he was in love with her.

Fuck, he thought. He was in love with two women. He thought of Naomi in her real body, and he remembered all the time they had before she died, how he loved her more than anything. He looked at Anna and realised she was the glue that was holding him together. Naomi made him happy, content and she was his everything, his other half, his soul mate. But Anna, well she made him smile when he didn’t think he could, made him sing when he didn’t want to, if he wasn’t in this predicament now, he would have no qualms about discussing marriage and kids with her. He wanted her, he wanted Naomi. No matter what the Devil did, no matter what was going on in the big plan of the apocalypse, he knew he wanted to ride it out with both Anna and Naomi.

He zoned back to reality: Naomi hadn’t even given him the hint that she was in there; all that happened was she had kept silent the entire time. Robb supposed it was when he told Lucifer he knew that he’d killed their child. That was when Lucifer truly knew that Naomi had been here, whether in Nicole or not. He had ruined the game, but that, at the same time, it was a slip up; he hadn’t meant to do it. But at the same time, he had laid everything on the line, he had shown Lucifer that he wasn’t afraid of him anymore; and to Robb, that was important. He was going to show him that he could no longer fuck around with him or his wife. Robb was determined now to take him down; he needed to show him that he had no right to waltz into Naomi’s life or his and rip everything from them.

But then equally, he had just royally fucked everything up by telling him that, hadn’t he?

“Robb?” Isaac stood in front of him while the two girls whispered something to each other and then joined them.

Robb glanced from space to his best friend. “Yeah?”

“You okay, man?” Isaac asked, clapping his shoulder.

“Yeah, I’m okay,” Robb assured him, nodding once.

“I think… I think we’re in a little bit of shit right now,” Mia said slowly and she glanced between the four of them.

“I think Naomi did well,” Isaac added. “How long was he here before we got back?”

“Five, maybe ten minutes, I don’t know,” Naomi said, still in a bit of a daze. “He just kept going on and on about how he though he knew I was in here, and he just kept getting angrier every time I refused to answer his questions.”

“That’s a good thing, though, that you kept silent. Well done,” Mia said.

“Hmmm,” Naomi grumbled back. She looked between Isaac and Robb for a moment, and Robb did his best to look back, but there was something off about looking at Nicole now, like it was just wrong, because of what just happened. “I think it’s time we gave Nicole back her own body, don’t you?”

Robb sighed as he parked the car down the road from the cemetery. He’d only been here the day before Naomi turned up at the door in Nicole’s body. It felt strange; to be visiting the cemetery again after everything that had happened in the space of three or four days. Even to be visiting the grave of the wife he’d buried, with the wife that was supposed to be in the same grave. It was fucking strange to say the least, and Robb felt like he was dishonouring the grave or something. Especially at this time of night; there was no one around, which, for what they were about to do, was not a bad thing, but to Robb, it felt wrong, like he shouldn’t be there at all.

“You sure you want to be here?” he whispered to Anna who was sitting in the passenger’s side. He watched her look up from her lap and smile at him.

“I want to be here,” she said.

“We need to talk, huh?” he suggested as he sensed the rather large elephant in the car between them.

“We can discuss it later, Robb. I think we have more important issues right now, like getting your wife back in her body,” Anna said as the other three got out the car to give them a minute.

“I realised something earlier, you know,” Robb mentioned. She gave him a questioning look and he took her hand in his, entwining their fingers together. “I… I’m in love with you.”

She looked down into her lap and all at once, Robb kicked himself for saying anything. It wasn’t the time nor the place; telling another woman he was in love with her when they were visiting his dead wife’s grave, about to give her back her body.

    “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have…”

She stopped him by smiling. “I’ve been in love with you for a while, Robb. I just didn’t know how to say it… because of you know, your wife,” she said.

    “I… just…”

“Robb, I know. You’re in love with us both. I could never ask you to forget her. She was… is you wife. Me being here doesn’t erase that. It’s complicated. I won’t get in your way, but I’m not giving up on you either,” Anna said, squeezing his hand. “I’m on your side in this, all of you. I want to help. So for now, let’s go and get Naomi her body back. Then we’ll talk. Take your time, Robb. I love you.”

    He smiled. “You’re amazing.”

“I know,” she shrugged with a laugh. “Come on.”

They got out the car where Isaac was getting restless. “We need to get this done as quickly as possible.”

“Because it is probably a crime to be digging up graves,” Mia nodded.

“That, and because the quicker we get this done, then the quicker we’re done, which means the less time we have to spend in a graveyard,” Isaac nodded.

Mia snorted. “You’re scared of a graveyard?”

“No, I’m scared of the graveyard at midnight, in the dark where there could be ghosts,” Isaac corrected, and to that, he heard Naomi snort.

“You’re seriously scared of ghosts? After everything?” Naomi chortled and Robb smirked to himself. He couldn’t actually begin to explain how excited he was to be getting his wife back properly, in her own body. Then it would be real, and it would mean so many things that having her back in Nicole’s body never did. To Robb, having Naomi in her own body would mean he would have his wife back, fully, like he didn’t have her really for the past three days. It would finally be real and a hundred per cent true. But then he had the addition of Anna and everything there. He couldn’t get excited about Naomi without thinking about Anna, yet he couldn’t think about Anna without thinking about Naomi. It was fucking ridiculous and he would never in a million years think he would ever be in a situation where he would have to pick between Naomi and another woman.

“No,” Isaac shook his head. “But you gotta admit, it’s creepy arse shit, going into a graveyard, at midnight, in the pitch black, to dig up a grave and open the box, and then rebury it, all in the dark in a graveyard, at night, where literally, you have no idea what could happen. After everything we’ve been through, anything is possible. So you have to admit, it’s creepy,” Isaac said, an unease to his voice that Robb found scary in itself.

“But still, we’re doing this creepy arse shit, to get Naomi’s body back, and give Nicole back her life, so we gotta do it, man,” Robb shrugged.

“That is a true point, my dearest friend,” Isaac nodded. “But it’s still creepy.”

“One does not simply deny this creepy arse shit,” Naomi joked, using The Lord of the Rings meme thing from the internet. Isaac glanced back and smirked.

“Nice use there, Nay, one for the team,” Isaac laughed, putting out his hand so they could high five each other. Robb watched the small exchange between them and smiled to himself; more than any other aspect of missing her, he had missed these moments, between the four of them, where Isaac and Nay had their geek moments and Mia and Robb would just look on, roll their eyes and just wait in silence for them to finish. It was small moments, but until they were gone, Robb never realised how much he had taken things like that for granted, and now, even with Nay in Nicole’s body, he had those moments back, and even stupid shit like that, that he just didn’t take part in, to watch on, was something he would never take for granted again.

“Come on,” Mia sighed. “The longer we stay here geeking out over some shit I don’t even understand, the longer we have to wait around in the creepy arse graveyard, and I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be in and then out as quickly as possible.”

    “Then let’s go,” Robb agreed.

He couldn’t watch; he knew if he did, it would just be a little too weird for him. He didn’t want to see the transformation; all he wanted was the result afterwards, where he would be able to see his wife again, wholly, and in her own body. Robb couldn’t bear to watch Nicole die in front of him, or, at least, he hoped she didn’t die, he hoped Naomi left her alive and able in there. He had no idea how any of this worked anyway. He just stared ahead, checking people weren’t around to witness what was about to happen; that would be a shock to the system for passers, wouldn’t it? But then who exactly would go into a graveyard at this hour of the night anyway?

“Okay, you ready?” Robb heard Isaac ask behind him. He took a step forward so he didn’t have to hear anything more until it was over.  He thought about what would happen now; Lucifer wouldn’t not come back again, and when Nay was in her own body, it would force the stakes higher for everyone. Lucifer would try and get her back, Robb would have to fight for her, as would Isaac and Mia. It would be a constant battle from then on; not only did they have to protect Nay, they had to stop the apocalypse. Isaac and Mia hadn’t spoken about it since they had kind of agreed not to put Nay back in her own body, but that was before the shit with Lucifer happened earlier. Now, they should all be on the same side. He spied Anna standing beside him and they held each other’s hands for comfort. Naomi wouldn’t like it, he knew, but he needed her beside him.

    “Robb?”

Robb turned around, hearing the voice he never thought he would hear again. He looked at the figure standing before him; short, blonde, green eyed, wearing the dress they buried her in… it was her. It was Naomi.

“Naomi?” Robb choked out, the tears blurring his vision. Anna stood back with Mia and Isaac to let them have a minute and he could have kissed her – well he probably would later – for letting him have this. His wife.

    “Hey,” she laughed.

He sighed and approached her, tears streamed down his face as he put his hands around her cheeks; warm and full of life. “Nay.” He looked her up and down, just to be sure, just to check it was really true and not some trick of his eyes. When he was more than satisfied, he laughed again, forcing a kiss on her lips, hungry and determined, relieved and thankful.

“Robb, we’re in a graveyard,” she stopped him after a moment, laughter filling the air. “We better get back, or Isaac will get restless.”

“I don’t care about that right now,” Robb admitted, staring at his wife. It was as if she hadn’t been around the past few days, it was as if this was all new to him. It was suddenly real.

“Robb,” Naomi chuckled. He suddenly undid the chain with the rings on around his neck, remembering that she would want them back. She smiled and took them as soon as he handed them over. He watched her put the rings back on her ring finger; she was officially his once again. “Come on, we need to get back. Nicole’s pretty exhausted as well.”

    “Nicole?” Robb asked, confused.

“Yeah, she needs to sleep, come on, we can finish the reunion at home,” Naomi said to him and turned to meet the other three. Robb just stared for a minute, watching her; he still couldn’t quite believe it was true.
