Not Harry Potter

A fanfiction in screenplay format. The Halliday family are a magical family living on Dartmoor. A mum, a dad, three children - a perfect magical tableau of domesticity. But the past cannot stay buried forever. What does a crime committed in Rome in 2001 have to do with the Halliday's? And do the scars from the Battle of Hogwarts ever really fade?

INT - HOGWARTS EXPRESS COMPARTMENT, AFTERNOON

We hear the sounds of the train moving as scenery flashes by through the window. Seated in the compartment are MORWENNA, a 14 yr old girl, and her friends; two more girls and two boys. MORWENNA and a couple of the others are talking; one stares out the window and another is perusing a newspaper.

MORWENNA

Did you see Professor Longbottom's face when

Julia knocked over that pot of Flitterbloom plants?

LOGAN

Yes! He legitimately thought it was Devil's Snare!

They dissolve into giggles. THEA looks at them with mock disgust.

THEA

It was not that funny.

LOGAN

You weren't even there, Thea. Don't ruin our fun.

THEA

Grow up, Logan. I -

IRIS

(interrupting, excited)

Hey, guys! Look at this!

She brandishes a copy of THE DAILY PROPHET at the others. Zoom in on the article she is pointing at. The headline reads: Italian Magi-Council on high alert after Prison Break. The moving picture shows four mug shots, three men and one woman. The other three stop and look at it. Logan grabs the paper off Iris and reads from it.

LOGAN

'Four high-priority prisoners escaped from the

Italian prison of Carcere dei Morti

near Rome late last night.'

He stumbles slightly on the Italian, which literally translates to Prison of the Dead.

LOGAN (CONT'D)

'The group are known terrorists, native to Ireland.

The Polizia have not been able to find them;

there is a chance they could have already left Italy.'

He looks up, and grins.

IRIS

Exciting, huh?

MORWENNA

Not really. It's in Italy. And anyway, we don't need

any more criminal masterminds here.

We've got Thea Theopolis - magi-mind of the highest order.

THEA

Oh stop it, 'Enna.

LOGAN

Didn't you hear me?

It said they could have left Italy!

They could be anywhere!

At this moment, the train swerves sharply to the left. The teens bang into one another in an attempt to stay upright. The boy by the window, TOBY, turns to them.

TOBY

Look! We're almost back.

He points out the window. Zoom into the window.
