The next day was normal, Luke drove me home, Ashton freaked out. Around 4 we went to Michael's so I could hear the band.
"Wait a second." I said. "Who sings?"
"We all do." said Luke, as he turned his guitar.
"You all do?" I questioned. "Ash?" Ashton and I made eye contact.
"Only sometimes." said Ashton. "They all sing a lot and I can only sing when the drumming part is easy."
"So what's the first song called?" I asked. They all looked at each other. Calum finally looked at me to respond.
"It's uh, called wrapped around your finger." he hesitated.
"Oh nice." I replied. "I can't wait to hear it." I could tell they were nervous.
They finally got everything set up, and I had my butt on the couch with my knees and my hands. Michael was the first one to sing, and let me tell you, when I heard his voice, my jaw dropped.
"Throwing rocks at your window, at midnight," he sang. When Luke started singing, my hand covered my mouth and my eyes widened. He was incredible.
"You were mine, for a night, I was out, of my mind," The song was amazing. Mike had a great guitar solo, and it got to the second chorus. Luke was singing again. I looked away because I was thinking about the lyrics.
"I told myself that I'm never gonna be alright," he hit a high note. I was amazed. Ashton and Calum were harmonizing, and they looked so happy. They were experts and the bass and drums.
"Okay, that was incredible." I said. Calum looked at Ashton with a grin. We decided to order a pizza for dinner that night. We were eating it when I got a call from my mom.
"Hi honey." she said quietly.
"Hey mom, what's up? Is everything alright?" I asked.
"Everything is fine hun, it's just.." she stuttered. "Your dad."
My heart dropped. I couldn't tell if I was mad or happy. The boys kept mouthing words to me.
"Well.. what does this mean?" I asked again.
"He is in the area. Staying at the hotel nearby. He wants to meet you. I don't even know how he got my number." she said on the other line.
"I- We'll talk tomorrow." I said. "Bye mom, love you. See you in a little bit."
"Love you more honey. Bye."
I hung up. Michael watched as I set down my phone.
"What was that about?" he eagerly asked. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.
"Well??" asked Luke, while scooting closer to me. Calum giggled.
"It was my mom," I said. They all said "oh" and leaned back.
"Calling about my dad." I continued. They sat up again. Ashton looked suspicious.
"How do you know is he's safe?" he asked.
"I- I don't."
