I wake up and look at the clock next to me. 09:00. That's weird. Bandit usually wakes at seven. Oh well. Enjoy it while it's available. I get up and walk out of my room. I can hear Frank, in the room next to mine, going through things. I go up a flight of stairs to Riley's room. Opening the door, I switch on the big bedroom light.
"Good morning, Bandit!" I say, walking across to open the curtains. I get hit with a breeze of air and look up. The window is wide open. I look around the room and see the bed sheets across the floor. "Guys! Quickly!" I yell, hoping someone hears me. Footsteps come running and the door opens behind me. "Mikey? What's-" Frank stops as we hear a cry from downstairs. We run down and see Patrick sat on the couch, holding Riley's phone. He looks up at us.
"Where is she?"
"Bandit! I had a recorder installed on Riley's phone, so every time she was rung, it would record the message. Is Bandit upstairs?"
"No... She... She's gone." I say, reality finally hitting me. I sink to the floor. Oh my God. I've lost my niece. Gee is gonna kill me! I should've kept a better eye on her! Mikey, you stupid idiot!
"Biggest issue right now is getting Gee." Frank says behind me.
"It is his daughter." Pete walks in then, holding a laptop in his arms.
"Guys, you're gonna wanna see this." We call the other guys to join us and gather round Pete's laptop. "I just found it. It was a link called www.wehavebandit.com so I freaked out and pressed it. Turns out, it's a livestream." We watch the screen as a small frightened looking Bandit sat in a chair, a man stood behind her. I feel my fists clenching and unclenching as Pete turns the sound up.
"As you can see, I have your precious little Bandit," the man almost spits the word "precious", causing Bandit to flinch. I tense up. "Now, I also have my daughter. You can have yours back as long as you promise to leave me and Riley alone. For good. Oh, and I need a thousand dollars." That's when I realise we haven't called Gee.
"Ray, can you ring Gee? He needs to be here." Ray walks out and I turn back to the screen. We are listening to the rules that Riley's father is leaving us, when there is a scream and crashing. He tells Bandit to stay put and stamps out of the room. After a moment, Bandit comes over to the camera.
"Daddy? Uncle Mikey? If you're there, can you find us? I'm scared and Riley is too. She doesn't show it, but she was crying in her sleep. I want her to be happy... Please help us. I hope you see this." She scurries back to her seat as we hear the stomping of feet down the stairs, off camera.
"What the hell are you doing?" We hear Riley yell. Suddenly, she is thrown into shot and hugs Bandit. She whispers something in her ear and then turns to the camera. She looks hurt. There are hand marks on her neck and arms. She also has a black eye.
"Are you streaming this? If you are that makes you sick." A foot collides with her face, causing blood to stream from her mouth. Bandit begins to cry. I want to throttle that man! "Look what you did!" Riley screams. She pulls Bandit into another hug. The man reaches for Riley and the camera is knocked over.
"No! Bandit! Riley, no!" I scream.
Frank grabs me and turns me to face him. Tears stream down my face and I shake wildly.
"Listen to me. If you don't calm down, you can't come with us to get her back!" Frank makes me look him directly in the eyes. I breathe steadier and look up as Ray walks back in.
"Five minutes." He says. Pete looks up.
"Gee, Andy, Mikey and me."
"What?" I look at him.
"We'll get them. We have getaway drivers, Gee can get Bandit and either me or you can get Ri."
"Yeah? How do you propose we do that? And what about these guys? And Lindsay? She'll go nuts!" I wave at the guys and sit on a seat.
"Actually what about all of us? That way we can have Bandit in one car and Ri in the other."
"How will we get Riley?" I say, looking at Pete. "Well, Riley's Dad will be too involved with Gee getting Bandit back, so we climb up to her room and grab her."
"I guess that might work. Me and Gee can go get Bandit and you and Frank could get Riley."
"Again... What about us?" Ray asks from across the room.
"Ray, you can be driver for Gee and Bandit, Andy you can be driver for Riley, Pete and Frank."
"Okay... I want to be involved in some way." Patrick says quietly, sat next to Joe.
"Pat, you're staying here buddy." Pete says quickly. "You need to make sure Lindsay is okay. And actually is it a good idea to send Gee?"
"Yeah, it is his kid."
"Wait, there is four people in one car and five in another. We should have someone from that car stay."
"I'll stay." Frank says, slowly.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"Yeah, I'll help Joe and Patrick keep Lindsay distracted." We all here the car pull up and two pairs of feet running to the door. Gerard bursts through the door,
"Where's Bandit?" He cries, running over. We look up at the laptop. Riley's father has rearranged the camera so it faces on Bandit and Riley. Riley is covered in blood, passed out and Bandit is crying holding Riley's hand.
"I'm gonna kill that bastard."
"Gee, we're going to get her. We're leaving in half an hour."
"No, we have to go now." He rushes. I grab his arm.
"We will get her. We just need to need to run you through the plan first."
"Fine." We run through the plan with Gerard and Lindsay, before Gee, Joe, Pete, Andy, Ray and I all go out to the cars. Lindsay hugs Gerard and turns to the rest of us.
"Don't let him kill anyone." And with that she turns and walks inside.
"Gee? Are you okay to do this?"
"Yes. Let's go." We get in the cars and leave the house.
