5. Chapter 4

He wasn't my grandma but he wasn't a terrorist either. A tall scrawny teenage boy stood in front of me. He looked scared, not really the type to even hurt a fly. He was shaking and, after getting a closer look, I could tell he was only a little younger then me, probably 16 or 17. He was wearing a loose t-shirt and jeans with black hair and blue eyes.

"W-Who are y-you?" He stuttered clearly terrified of an unarmed teenage girl.

"My name is Flare Connors, I'm just looking for my grandma who used to live here." I said calmly.

"I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but, your grandma, or the old lady that lived here disappeared without a trace about a day ago." He said looking down at his feet again. I felt my heart drop, she was the last relative I could have gone too. I slowly walked over a plopped down on the old creaking bed. The boy came and sat next to me clearly knowing I'm not dangerous. He turned and stuck out his hand towards me.

"I'm Clavin Miller, now an orphan." He said with obvious disappointment.

"That makes two of us." I said.

"Really! Your an orphan too?" He exclaimed like being parentless was a good thing.

"Yeah, as of yesterday."

"I'm sorry to hear that. My mom was killed by the terrorist group and my dad died when I was a baby, car accident." He said.

"I'm sorry." I said. "My mom left my dad and I, just yesterday my dad got kidnapped, and I'm pretty sure by those terrorists your mom was killed by." I don't know why I told him or vise versa but it felt good to share the experience with someone else.

"At least we have a common enemy, unless your lying." He smiled.

"I'm not promise..." Suddenly an idea popped into my head. "Hey Calvin why don't we stick together, no point in not helping each other out for awhile, not like we have any where else to go."

"Sure I don't really have anywhere else to go so I'm up for it." He said, I could sense how happy he was to have someone with him.

"Cool! Got any ideas where to go....?" I said not knowing myself where I was headed now.

"Any idea where your father might be held?" He said more interested in helping me then himself, I admired that.

"No I'm not even positive about who took him."

"Well we can stay here tonight and then figure out a plan tomorrow." He said.

"Yeah good idea." I said.

We talked the rest of the night. I showed him the supplies I had and learned about how he took archery lessons and would go hunting in the woods. I told him about fencing and my old school. When it got late he offered to sleep on the couch so I could have the bed. I stayed awake until he fell asleep to make sure he wouldn't double cross me. I hid my supplies anyways and kept my knife close in case he tried anything. It was the first time I got any sleep since fencing.
