It’s been a year since Emily and I have been together and I fall in love with her even more every day.
Mum and I moved into the Palace but we still have our house in town to escape to if we wanted some alone time, Emily and I mostly use it. Emily said to me once when we were there just hanging out. “I want to raise our children in this home and let them have a normal child hood. I don’t want them going to a boarding school or have to go to a school for Princesses, what do you think?”
“If that’s what you want then we’ll do it but if we have a son...I would like to name him, Edward.” I said as I looked at the picture of my father.
“After your dad, I like it.”
Since that day, Emily and I have organized our life together. From how many children we were going to have to how many animals we will have when we have our own home once the children are old enough and we grow old.
She’s my future and I will love her for as long as I’m with her and that will be forever.
However, today is the day I propose to Emily and ask her to marry me. I have arranged to have dinner in a restaurant outside of town, outside under the stars like our first date but slightly different.
“It’s been a year already!” Mum said surprised.
“Yes mum, it has...do you think she’ll say yes?”
“You know she will but first I want to give you something to give Emily when you propose.” Mum took out a small, red velvet box and opened it. “It was your grandmothers then she gave it to your father to give to me, I asked Tony and Elizabeth if it was okay and they said yes so...I would love it if you gave Emily this.”
“Thank you, mum...it’s beautiful.” I gave mum a hug.
As the day passed I got more nervous as the time went on but now the time has finally come and Emily came downstairs to meet me before we left. She was wearing a dark red dress that fell to the ground, her burgundy hair fell around her shoulders and her green eyes were more emerald than ever. My mouth went dry that I could hardly speak. “Babe, you look...”
“Let me guess...wow!” Emily said as she smiled.
“I was going to say absolutely remarkable and that I’m breathless.”
“Thank you, my most handsome Prince.”
I chuckled then said “You’re welcome.”
We left for dinner, we were escorted to our table then Emily said “It’s beautiful out here.”
“You’re more beautiful...” I said shyly but more than again I was nervous. “Would you like to order?”
“Yes please, I’m starving.”
We ordered our meals, some water but once our meals came I became nervous again and chickened out so I waited.
After desert, the waiter took our plates away and cleared our table except for our drinks then I stood up and kneeled down on my knee next to Emily, she looked at me and turned so she was facing me. I said “Emily...you are so special and I still believe that my dad sent you to me but I love you more than anything in this world. From the day we first met, I couldn’t get you out of my head and I don’t ever want to...”
I pulled the red velvet box from of my pocket and opened it. “Will you marry me?”
Emily started crying then said “Yes...yes, a thousand times yes.”
I put the ring on her finger then we stood up and kissed. The restaurant cheered and congratulated us.
After dinner we went back to mine and mum’s house, we stayed there all night and just enjoyed each other’s company but what I’m looking forward to the most is when I can call her my wife and when we start having a family of our own but we have forever for that. For now though I will enjoy every moment and every memory we’ll share as a couple and pre-newlyweds.
Forever, I thank you Dad for Emily.
