2. Emily's P.O.V

It had been seven years since I was last at home and now I’m going back as mum wants me to go to finishing school to learn how to be a proper Princess then when I turn eighteen I’m going to have a Cotillion.

"Welcome home, Emily...we've missed you so much." My mum said as she hugged me when I walked through the Palace doors.

“Me too, mama...where’s papa?” I asked as I pulled away.

Mum replied “In his study...why don’t you go in and surprise him?”

I gave mum a big smile then said “Okay.”

I ran to my dad’s study even though I was wearing a blue silk blouse, a grey pencil skirt and two inch heels. I reached dad’s study in less than five minutes and there he was sitting behind his huge wooden desk in his big leather chair.

“Daddy!” I screamed as I ran up to him.

Dad stood up then as I reached him, he threw his arms around me and said “Emie...welcome home my baby.” He kissed my head and I replied “Good to be home, daddy.”

We pulled away from each other and dad said “Look at you...you’re growing up so fast.”

Dad sat down in his chair again and asked “How was your trip?”

"It was long...Amber wouldn't stop talking about how she was going to see her boyfriend and how it had been a year since she last saw him. It got very irritating after a while. Do I have to go to this finishing school?" I asked as I slumped against dad's desk.

He replied with a smile on his face at my question, "I'm afraid you do but remember what I've always told you...you were born a Princess but it's up to you if you want to be one."

    “I know daddy...” I sighed.

Just then the doors of dads’ office opened and mum walked through. “Emily, why don’t you go and freshen up for dinner?”

“Okay...” As I left I looked at my parents one last time and they looked more in love than they had ever been, I smiled then went to my room but as I walked the hall I came across a picture of my late grandmother, the former Queen. She was beautiful, long wavy black hair, tan skin, hazel eyes and she had the softest face I’d ever seen. I didn’t know her very well, she died when I was three. My grandmother apparently told my parents that I was special and that one day I would make the kingdom proud, but anything can happen between now and in three years time.

The following morning came and I wasn't looking forward to finishing school at all. There was going to be at least then other girls there, mixed ages I think mum said there will be four 16 year olds, three 17 year olds and three 18 year old that's would be introduced into society at the end of the year.

I arrived last because I was trying to delay going. In the end I gave up and at a snail pace walked up the marble stairs to the Grand room where everyone had to report. I got to the entrance of the Grand room and there were two guys wearing white dress shirts, black tuxedos, black ties and black sunglasses. One of them opened the door for me, as I walked passed them I said “Thank you.” and walked into the room.

The floor to ceiling was white marble, the ceilings had white curved beams around the room but on the actual ceiling were different kinds of murals, and it was beautiful.

“You must be Emily Dawson.” A blonde haired, blue eyed and white clear skinned lady said.

    I replied “Yes ma’am.”

“Well, you’re late...you will have to stay behind an extra hour after today’s lesson is finished...understood?”

I nodded my head then stood in line with the other girls.

By the end of the day I memorized the nine girls' names, they were Rachael, Cece, Tori, Shayla, Zoey, Rose, Kim, Adi and Jordana.

Once the girls left, I was the only one left in the room with Miss Wilson. “Alright Emily...I want you to know that your family is extremely counting on me to get you to become the Princess they know you can be but...you’re really the only one who can make it happen. Are you ready?”

I shook my head then said “Right now I don’t really have a choice.”

“Good to hear...now let’s get started.”

The rest of the afternoon consisted of me walking in 4 inch heels, walking with my shoulders squared, head held high and speaking properly. I was exhausted and my feet were aching when I got to my room at the school, I hope I can last the next three years.
