Luperca Lupin stood shaking nervously in the crowd of other first years waiting to be sorted. She glanced to the Gryffindor table where she could see her brother and his friends watching her. She caught Remus's eye and he smiled at her, clearly trying to tell her for the umpteenth time that it'd be ok, where ever she ended up. She smiled back.
"Lupin, Luperca." McGonagall called and Luperca scurried up to the stool and watched the four tables watching her as the flap of the hat fell over her eyes, blocking the view.
"Oh, another wolf. Got one of those last year too." The voice of the hat rang through her ears and Luperca winced, thinking the hat had just spilled her secret to the entire hall.
"Loyal, especially to your family, that much is evident." Luperca blushed and the hat continued, "You've had to be cunning to hide your secret, but you've been smart about it, and very brave. Yes, the bravery stands out the most. You belong in..."
"Gryffindor!" The name of her brother's house rang through the entire house and the hat was lifted off her head as that side of the hall erupted into cheers. Luperca bounced over to where her brother and his friends had stood up to cheer, and so she could find them.
"I told you it'd be Ok." Lupin said and pulled her into a hug.
"Remus, you never told us you had a sister." The dark haired one with glassed said sitting down with the other three.
"We were always busy." Remus shrugged.
"That's a lie, but it doesn't matter." James said.
"However, are you, or are you not, going to introduce us to your cute sister?" Sirius asked Remus and Luperca blushed.
"Right, Lupe, this is James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew. Guys, this is my sister Lupe." Remus introduced them and Lupe smiled.
"Alright, I have two questions for Lupe: What is the color of your toothbrush, and why do you have a band aid on your cheek?" Sirius asked and Lupe looked to Remus, who had dropped his head onto the table.
"Well," She said, deciding not to mention her wolf side, "My toothbrush is green, and I tripped over a log while chasing Remus through the woods by our house." She invented.
"Oh, good, sorting's over." James said as the food materialized in front of them.
"Why were you chasing Remus?" Peter asked.
"He was being an idiot and stole my notebook." She replied.
"Remus, why would you taunt your sister like that?" Sirius faked being personally insulted for her.
"Yeah, you should have eaten the last cookie or something, and blamed the cat while you still had half of it in your mouth." James said, mouth full of mashed potato.
"I was going to impress you with my mad pranking skills," Remus said sitting up, "She only thought I had her notebook, I had mine, hers was still in her trunk." Remus said and James and Sirius began applauding him.
"We have taught him well Sirius." James told the other boy.
"Indeed James, though it could use a little fine tuning." Sirius shot back.
"Hey Remus," Lupe turned to her brother, "Could you show me where the common room is?" She said and he nodded, standing up.
"I'll see you guys later." he said and led Lupe out into the entrance hall.
"They don't know?" Lupe asked him as they made their way through the castle.
"No, but I think their getting a little suspicious of where I go every month." Remus said, turning to go up another set of stairs.
"Their gonna figure it out eventually." She whispered and Remus nodded.
"I don't think they'd tell anyone, but I don't want to risk it yet." He said and she just leaned her head on his shoulder.
"That one the other day got you bad didn't it." He asked and she nodded.
"Why aren't you tired, you changed too." She asked, yawning.
"I took a nap on the train," Remus said and walked up to a portrait of a fat lady, "flibbertigibbet." he said and the portrait opened to reveal the Gryffindor common room.
"Alright, girls dorms are up those stairs." He pointed to one of the two staircases and Lupe hugged him one more time before trudging up the stairs and flopping onto the bed with her things at the bottom.
