Lupe still laid on her bed, now fast asleep, as the two other girls sharing the dorm room came in from the common room. The girls changed into their pajamas and climbed into their beds, still talking and giggling about whatever they had been discussing downstairs.
"Remus?" The girls stopped talking for a moment as Lupe muttered her brothers name. After a good few minutes of nothing, they went back to whispering until they both split for the night.
"Remus? Come on!" Lupe said, whispering the last sentience and the girl closest to her sat up and walked over to the bed, knowing it would come again.
"Remus! Where are you!" Lupe said again and the girl scrambled over to her friend.
"She's asking for someone named Remus." She whispered after waking her.
"He's one of the second year boys. He was still in the common room when we came up, might still be there." The other girl said and turned over, going back to sleep. The first girl wrapped a blanket around herself and put on her slippers, creeping down to the common room.
"Remus!" The whispered loudly and was relieved when James looked over at her. "Are you Remus?" She asked tentatively and James shook his head.
"No, why do you need him?" He asked the girl.
"One of the girls in the dorm was asking for him." She said and James turned to something on the couch next to him and smacked it with the back of his hand.
"Hmmm?" Remus sat up, looking still half asleep.
"I think Lupe's asking for you." he said and Remus suddenly looked wide awake.
"Is she ok?" He asked and James looked to the girl.
"I'm not sure. I think she was asleep, but she asked for you like, three times."
"Oh no. Dang, I thought these stopped." He said and ran a scared hand down his face. Both James and the girl looked to him for an explanation.
"Nightmares," He said simply, "I can't go up there though." He groaned.
"I can go get her." The girl said and Remus nodded.
"Just stand back and do it gently." He warned and the girl nodded, returning upstairs.
"Remus!" Lupe rolled over in her sleep and the girl tapped her on the shoulder. Lupe shot up, her fist flying out in the direction the tap came from, catching the girl right in the stomach.
"Oof." The girl clutched her stomach and groaned.
"I'm sorry. Are you alright?" Lupe asked and the girl waved her off.
"You're brother's downstairs. He said to send you down there." She explained and Lupe climbed out of bed and hurried down stairs, Remus waiting at the bottom.
"Are you alright? One of the girls from your dorm said you were asking for me." Remus hugged her.
"I'm fine. Just nightmares." She explained and the two joined James and Sirius on the couch by the fire.
"Same as before?" He asked and she nodded.
"I don't want to pry, but I also don't want to seen insensitive. What are you two talking about?" James asked.
"I've had nightmares ever since I was five." Lupe said and James still looked confused.
"I was attacked by a dog." She said and James and Sirius both looked shocked.
"You were attacked by a dog when you were five?" Sirius asked looking genially worried for her.
"Yeah, but I was out when I wasn't supposed to, and kinda went looking for it." She said and Remus pulled her closer. Lupe defended her brother and the other boys nodded.
"Well, we have a big day planned and will be following Peter's example and going to bed." James said and He and Sirius left.
"You didn't have to lie to defend me." Remus whispered.
"I wasn't lying. I was out looking for you that night, even after Mom and Dad said not to, and a wolf is a type of dog." She said and laid her head against him.
"I don't know how long we can keep this up." Remus said and Lupe just stared into the dying fire.
Neither of them remember falling asleep, but they were woken by James, Sirius and Peter the next morning, still cuddled on the couch before the fire.
