"Ashton,I-i..." My voice trails off and his eyes search mine. "Well, this has been fun. I should get going." Jeremy announces and grabs his keys. Ashton steps aside as Jeremy leaves. "Emily, please." Sydney stares at the floor. "I need to think." I say. "Okay." Ashton leaves. Sydney closes the door and gets a vase for the flowers. "Why do you need to think?" "I don't," She tilts her head. "I'm just avoiding." "Why?" I look down at my fingers. "I don't know. I'm just,I don't feel like I should trust him,but I do,it's just...I don't know." She takes the flowers out of my hands. "Why don't you trust him?" She asks, taking the flowers out of the bag and untie the pink ribbon. "I...I don't know." I watch as she places the flowers gently into the vase. She picks up the vase and puts it in my hands. "You're just afraid of being hurt." "How do I stop?" "You don't." She walks with me to my room and I put the vase on a shelf by my desk. "I don't understand." "You don't have to stop being afraid. You never do,really. Just pretend it's not there." I smile. "How are you so smart with this stuff?" Sydney shrugs. "I guess it's magically there." We giggle.
I listen to the song "Icing" and hum along as I paint Sydney's nails a shade of lavender.
"So,I called Ashton-" She says. "What?" I ask putting the polish brush into the bottle. "Yeah, and I told him you made up your mind." I sigh. "I haven't." "Yes,you have. You're gonna say yes." "But I haven't." "Well, now you have. And you're gonna be happy." I smile. "You're so..." "Fantastic? I know." We laugh. There's a knock at the door. "Stay still. I'll put on a top coat in just a minute." I say, looking over my shoulder as I walk to the door. I open the door. And Jeremy's face appears, with a police officer holding his hands behind his back. "Surprise." He says, awkwardly.
A/n: sorry for it being late. I'm working on the next one. <3
