"Maybe I can change his mind," I repeat what Michael yelled at me earlier this evening,in a whisper. "Maybe I can change his mind," I purse my lips. "What's that supposed to mean anyway?" I ask myself. My dark room lights up as my phone gives me a notification. I look at it and pick up my phone. I unlock it and go into Twitter, which is where the notification came from. "Night guys. Xx" Ashton. I sigh and put my phone down. I stand up,stretch, even though I didn't eve sleep yet,and go onto my balcony. Ashton's climbing onto his roof and I smile. He waves once he's up there and I wave back. I look up at my roof and decide not to climb up there because I don't want to get hurt or anything. I watch as Ash gets off his roof and goes inside. I shiver, because it's cold and turn to open my door, but it's locked. I sigh. The front door is already locked, and the back,I already know that. I'm not going through Michael's room, because why would I? I mean,he was being such a-"Hey." Ashton scares me. "Oh my gosh,Ashton." I say. "Locked outside?" He asks and I nod. Wrinkling up my nose,I ask,"Do you think it's gonna be a long night for me?" He nods and takes my hand. "Longer than it already has been." "What do you mean?" "I know you and Michael were arguing. So,have you found a place for you to live?" "No." "Well," I takes off his sweatshirt and hands it to me. I put it on. "It'll take time. You can't just go looking for one some night and find a good one." "I know that." "On a more important note, where oh where are you gonna find a place to spend the night?" I smile. "My car." He laughs. "Look,if your purse or bag or whatever is inside, and you can't get inside, your car isn't gonna be unlocked soon." "Maybe it's unlocked." "Sureeeeee, after what happened less than twenty-four hours ago,I'm pretty sure your car is locked." "Oh,fuck you." We laugh. "So,you gonna sleep on the roof?" "Probably." "That's a shitty bed." "Thank you." "You're welcome." He giggles. I look down at my bare feet, then up at the sky. "Isn't it beautiful out here,Ash?" I ask. "Well, you're out here so." I blush and playfully hit his shoulder. We stand there in silence for awhile, just looking at the sky. "Can...can I ask you something?" I ask him, still looking at the sky. "Yeah, anything." "Somewhere in the fight,Michael said he might change your mind about me. Do you think he's gonna do that?" I ask, tears in my eyes. "I'm pretty sure nothing he says about you will change my mind about you,Em." I nod. "Thanks." I put my hands in my back pockets of my denim shorts and feel my keys. I leave them be,just to keep this moment. My bedroom light turns on and Ashton and I turn around. What does Michael fucking want? He unlocks the door and opens it. I go behind Ashton. "Why are you two out here late?" He asks. "I..." I begin. "She locked herself out,so,I'm keeping her company before I was text you to let her in." "Okay, say your goodnights." He's acting like nothing happened. Michael grabs my hand. "Stop," I say. He drags me inside. "Michael, stop it," He doesn't stop. "You're acting like nothing happened earlier. Now,let go of my hand." He stops. "I'm. Sorry. Happy now? Get some sleep." He closes the balcony door and locks it and Ashton climbs down the tree. Michael leaves and I sigh.
**Two days later**
"Busy tonight?" Sydney asks. "Nope, you guys?" I reply. "No." Kyle says. "Me neither." Jamie answers. "Why aren't you busy,Tour Girl? No dates with Tour Boy?" Kyle asks. I sigh as I wipe the counter. "Haven't had one in a few weeks. You know,he and I last saw each other two days ago,and we didn't even kiss or hug the entire time," I say. "I don't get it. I thought we were okay. Maybe the spark is gone. Also, without Allison, the group is falling apart. Michael and I get in a lot of arguments and I barely see Luke and Cal anymore. Maybe the group isn't inseparable." I sigh again. Jamie puts her hand on my shoulder. "Look,Emily, you do what you think is right. Maybe you and Ashton weren't meant to be." I nod. "Right." "But," Sydney begins. Kyle rolls his eyes. "Maybe they are meant to be. It was one night. I mean, come on. That doesn't mean you two don't love each other anymore." "Then why was it like they were just friends?" Jamie asks. "She didn't make a move!" "She shouldn't have had to!" They argue and I pack up my stuff. I wave to Kyle and go to my car. I get in and drive home.
