My time at the town celebrating didn't last long. Soon, my father came with some guards on his tail with horses. I sighed,"That didn't last long," I whisper. Harrison wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close. "It'll be alright," he whispered in my ear. My father's face turned a little red as he look at me. "Caroline! I thought I told you to stay away from that boy!" Harrison stepped forward, but I stopped him. I stepped in front of him. If I'm ever going to stand up to my father, it's now.
"Father, I don't care what you say. You can not control my feelings. I'm not going to just automatically love the person you think is right for me! I love Harrison, and no one, not even you, are going to change that. Mum always, always told me to follow my heart, and now you've made this damn thing up! I can not follow my heart with your rules. So if you still don't want me to be with Harrison, then I'll just leave, and I can do that. We are married now. You can not change that!" I shouted at him, almost out of breathe.
Harrison came out from behind me and took my hand. My father looked baffled. He stepped off his horse, walking towards me. I let go of Harrison's hand a took a few steps forward. My father reached my and took both of my hands, and looked me in the eyes. "Caroline,"he said, his voice soft," I'm sorry, I truly am. I miss your mother very much. I was just trying to look over you. 'Make sure when I pass, you have a true man to look after you. I just overlooked Harrison over there, I never knew you loved him so much. I should've listened to you the first time you told me you loved him," he said hanging his head.
I hugged him tight. "Thank you father, thank you." He hugged me back tightly. He then let me go and walked over to Harrison. He held out his hand,"Nice to meet you boy," he said smiling. Harrison took his hand gratefully,"Yes sir," Harrison said with a big smile. "So, did I interrupt a party or what!" Everyone then cheered and clapped. Harrison came up behind me, "Turned out good didn't it?" I smiled and turned around, "Yes it did," I wrapped my arms around his neck and we kissed.
"You look absolutely beautiful, by the way."
