"Harry!" Eleven year old Nicole Potter screeched, directly into the ear of her sleeping brother.
Harry sat up, shouting something incomprehensible. Looking around, he saw his twin sister standing next to his bed, laughing so hard she had to hold on to the bedposts to stay upright. "What?" He yelled at her, angry and slightly humiliated.
"Just thought you'd like to know it's our birthday today!" Nicole said, smiling innocently up at him.
"Really? You give me permanent hearing damage to tell me something I already know?" Harry asked, glaring at her.
"Yes." Nicole said, as if this was a perfectly reasonable thing to do.
Harry's anger was fading. "Niki, one day I'm going to get you back. One of these days, I'm going to make you wish you'd never pranked me."
"Well, put those feelings aside so we can have a happy birthday." Nicole, or Niki, as she generally went by, stood up.
Harry Potter had a small build. He'd always been rather skinny, and short. His jet-black hair was always untidy, no matter what he did with it, and he had brilliant green eyes. Except for the eyes, which looked exactly like his mother's, Lily's, Harry was the spitting image of James Potter, his father.
It was really hard to say what Niki looked like. She had the rare ability to change her appearance at will. Those who had this power were Metamorphagi, or Metamorphagus in the singular. Today, she had turned herself into the spitting image of her mother, who had several pictures in the house.
Niki had quite a large amount of unusual accidental magic. She seemed to have better control over it than most underage wizards did. They had appeared quite early in life, and Sirius and Remus seemed to have doubts about if these would ever go away.
As the twins walked downstairs, they heard Sirius and Remus quarreling in the kitchen. Naturally, they stopped to listen.
"I don't care what Dumbledore says, we need to tell them!" Sirius was saying. "They need to be on guard!"
"You know they would go looking for it if they knew it was in the castle!" Remus replied hotly. "Dumbledore said no one is to know, so no one will know!"
Knowing they would be caught if they eavesdropped any longer, Harry and Niki entered the kitchen.
"There are the birthday twins!" Sirius exclaimed, hugging them both. "Come, sit, let's have breakfast!"
The little family ate breakfast together, talking and laughing as usual. Neither Sirius nor Remus seemed to notice that Harry and Niki were pondering deeply about what they had heard before entering the kitchen.
