Quinn had no idea where she was and she liked it. It was just the way she wanted. To be lost in her own Neverland. Where she didn't have to pretend, didn't have to please, didn't have to listen to anyone but the sound of her own soul. This is where she always wanted to be.
And that's where she was going. She was going somewhere.
Quinn had been driving for hours. She had left everything behind. Her home and her family. She was selfish, Yes. But she had to do it. She had been chained long enough. Quinn had no idea where she was and quite frankly she didn't even want to know. Sometimes life is easier that way. She was driving on a lone road where there was no car in sight for miles. On either sides were farms and breeze and silence. Even after driving for so long she was not tired. Unlike back at the city, where she would feel tired after an hour of driving but not this time.
It was rejuvenating. In a roofless car that she stole from her brother. She let her imagination run wild. She took off the sunglasses she was wearing and let the air kiss her face, with her scarf running wild at her neck. She never felt this good before and she wanted to cherish this moment and freeze the time forever.
She took one hand off the driving wheel and let it float around in the air, with her hand moving in the wave-like motion to which she smiled. A smile reaching up to her eyes.
Quinn was lost for so long that she forgot what it was like to be herself.
This was her chance to find.
Quinn soon came across some dwellings. It was a small town but it was very busy. She could see people everywhere. Laughing, singing and dancing. Soon, there was a herd of kids running after her car and she couldn't help but laugh. Soon, enough she found a Motel. It was covered in fairylights, which were not yet lit. She parked her car and got inside the Motel. A few bells chimed when she went in. At the counter was a Boy about her age. To which she smiled and he gladly returned it.
" A room for a night, Please." She asked.
" Off course." The boy replied and soon came up with a giant brass key and handed it over to Quinn.
" I am Alec by the way." The boy said extending his arm.
" I'm Quinn."
" Are you on a journey." Alec asked.
" Yes." Quinn said.
" Where are you going?" He asked again. At that Quinn paused. She didn't know where she was going. She had no idea. Seeing Quinn's silence as hesitation, Alec re framed his words.
" I am sorry. I didn't mean to snoop. It's okay you don't have to tell me."
" No, no it's alright. It's just that I don't know where I am going." She replied truthfully. Alec nodded understanding.
" If you are free tonight. There is a little fair down at the village. I was wondering if you would like to come?" Alec asked bashfully with a little color rising up to his cheeks. Alec had never asked a girl before to go anywhere with him but when he saw Quinn. He just had to ask. He couldn't control the feeling and off course he was pretty surprised when Quinn agreed to it.
Quinn only had a small duffel bag with her that just contained a pair of undergarments, a cute sundress, money and a book most dear to her. It wasn't much but then Quinn never wanted much from her life and when it didn't even provide her with basics. She ran away. Ran away to here. She didn't even know where here was.
It was still in 3 in the afternoon so Quinn had plenty of time to think about the future which looked quite uncertain. The first thing she remembered was a quote she read in a book that she now held. The book that gave her this very crazy yet happy idea.
" Your story isn't calm. The road has been chaotic at times, filled with detours and rains of sorrow so sudden, and soon. Sometimes the bliss was so elevated your heart could hardly contain it. Sometimes it was maddening to have, and to lose. You learn soon enough that it hardly ever goes as planned- Gentle, easy and smooth. But that my friend is what makes you fascinating. You have something to tell. Something you have walked through. Something wild, something courageous, Something true. You're made of stories within stories within even more stories. Those quiet depths of you. A story written through journey to somewhere."
That is why Quinn never planned her journey. She just wanted to go somewhere and this was the beginning of a new story written by none another than Quinn herself.
Soon, She started to get ready. She put on the only sundress she had brought with no makeup. There was a sudden knock on her door. Where she found a blushing Alec. Alec provided his hand and Quinn gladly accepted it. When they both stepped out. Quinn suddenly freezed.
It was absolutely beautiful.
Everywhere were fairylights with couples walking everywhere. People dancing and singing on the streets. It seemed something out of a fairytale. Alec laughed out loud when he saw a gaping Quinn beside him. He gently carried Quinn away from the pavement and into the crowd of the dancing people. Soon, Alec and Quinn were jumping and laughing and teasing until a slow song came on. Alec very hesitantly placed one hand on her waist and with another held her hand. Quinn too put one hand on his shoulder. She gently rested her head on his shoulder. A warmth spread over and a feeling she never knew. Both of them were moving on their own to the soft music. Quinn looked up to see a pair of beautiful green eyes softly grazing at her. Alec at that moment knew that he had never seen a more beautiful girl in his life. He closed the distance between them and kissed her soft lips.
At first, Quinn was surprised but she let it be. She had never felt like this before. She moved her lips in sync with his. Until he pulled back a little and whispered.
Quinn woke up to the best feeling in the world. She gently touched her lips remembering the night before and smiled. She looked around to find herself on her bed and remembered what Alec had said. She fell in love with the boy she just met but she still had to find her paradise. Was Alec her paradise?
Alec woke up to soft Knock on the door. He didn't want to wake up. He had the most amazing dream. A dream of him and Quinn. He very reluctantly walked towards the door and opened it.
There was no one there. He was about to turn away, when his eyes fell on the floor. There was a small note. He picked it up and opened it and read it.
Quinn saw through her back mirror to see the boy she came to love come up to his balcony and smiled as she drove away. To continued her journey to somewhere. Her smile never faulting.
The note she wrote was only one line long.
I will meet you Someday. At Somewhere.
