When I got home that day, I dropped my backpack on my bedroom floor and flopped down on my head with a sigh. I smiled as I thought about Luke and replayed the day’s events over and over in my head. I looked over at my phone, which was on my night stand beside my bed, and decided to text Luke. I dug through my already messy, un-organized backpack and found the post-it note with his number on it. I then quickly entered it.
Taylor “Hey! What’s up? It’s Taylor! :)”
*A couple minutes later I got a response.*
Luke: “Oh hey there! I’m just listening to Green Day! Hbu?”
Taylor: “Omg! I listen to Green Day too! But right now I’m…I guess…texting you haha!”
Luke: “Lol. Hey, you wanna hang out sometime?”
Taylor: “Yeah!! That would be awesome! When?”
Luke: “I was thinking next Friday? Is that cool?”
Taylor: “Totally! How about we go to that cafe by CEH?”
Luke: “The Seaside Cafe? Sure sounds great! I’ll meet you there at 7:00?”
Taylor: “Sure! I gtg do my homework, but see you then, Luke!”
Luke: “Alright Taylor, can’t wait! ;)”
I couldn’t believe it! My first “conversation” with Luke! And it wasn’t awkward!!!! YAY! I sat on my bed for a few minutes, staring at my phone and then it all sunk in. I think Luke had asked me out on a date?! I couldn’t believe it! It’s just like the 4th day of school! With that, I began to do my happy dance around my room and made so much noise that my mom actually ran upstairs to see if I was okay. I told her about my possible “date” and surprisingly, she was okay with it.
Once I finished my homework for the evening, I quickly called Amber and soon enough, we were squealing and doing our happy dances! After happy dancing and jumping around excitedly for about 2 minutes I suddenly stopped and had a mini heart attack!
“Amber,” I said very slowly, “I just realized that this will be my first date!!!!! What do I do? What should I wear? what if I forget? What if I don’t know what to say? What if I embarrass myself? What if….”
Amber cut me off, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you get through this! We have plenty of magazines with helpful dating advice and tips from the experts!” she said triumphantly, “You’ll be just fine! Maybe I could come over tomorrow after school and we can figure this out together!”
“Okay, sounds great! I definitely need A LOT of help….” I explained to Amber.
