“This is the captain speaking; we are now making our final decent an will be landing at Newcastle Airport in five minutes we hope that you have had a pleasant flight and hope that you will fly with British Airways again.’ May I remind you to check that you have all of your hand luggage with you before leaving the aircraft; on behalf of the cabin crew and myself I wish you all a safe journey home thank you.’

The plane banked and then stated lowering its airspeed. The landing gear was deployed then the sign came on to remind everyone to fasten their safety belts.

Darren lifted his seat back into an upright position. He buckled up then waited for the plane to land. Lower and lower the plane dropped as it flew over Whitley bay, and then flew to Ashington before turning left. He could make out the bridge in Newcastle then the airport came into view. Down and down the plane went until they saw the markers for the airstrip. The tyres hit the tarmac and the thrusters reversed to slow the plane down. The plane carried on for half a mile before coming to a halt.

Turning the aircraft it taxied to the terminal building and the steps were brought to the doors. Darren stood up ready to get off. It was taking them longer to open his door

he thought, but he waited. Then he looked outside and saw passengers walking down the tunnel.

“He asked the air steward why they weren’t being allowed to disembark.’

There’s a technical problem with the door sir we are dealing with it as fast as we can.’

“So much for first class travel; I will be putting in a letter of complaint when I get home.’

It was some twenty minutes later when the door finally opened and Darren and his two associates left the aircraft.

Everyone in position; lets get this done a quietly as possible.’

The signal was given and the police swooped as soon as Darren entered the terminal building he was arrested and handcuffed. Darren Ingles I am arresting you on a charge of murder and robbery of five million pounds from a security vehicle. You do not have to say anything but what you do say will be recorded and relied upon in court. Do you understand your rights Mr Ingles?

Yeah, Yeah, blady blah.’ Let’s get this over with.’

“They took him through a private entrance then outside into a waiting police van

Rob Black sat beside Ingles as Carl Allen sat on the other side of him’

We ordered the van for you Mr Ingles as we know that you like to travel in style.’

“Did you enjoy your holiday then Mr Ingles; the security man that you bumped off won’t be enjoying any more holidays.’ “Did you know he had two young daughters and a wife?’

Darren sat in complete silence all the way to the station.

Tanya had collected the cases and went outside where Ernie Kay was waiting in the jag.’

He got out and placed the cases in the back as she looked around for Darren. Mel Gunn and Harry Buck ran towards the Jag and bundled Tanya inside.

“Here what’s going on protested Tanya?
