five hundred pesetas. Each guest paid around two pounds to enter and then they had only two minutes to submit their answers. Each night if it wasn’t won it went up by fifty pesetas. With forty tables and at least half of them playing; Dave was able to far exceed what the prize money was and set aside the next jackpot that would lure in more punters who would spend fifty pounds or more each if they bought food.

The mark up on food was good because you could make a huge profit.’

He could pay the chef and still turn out a good profit each night which covered the cost of the entertainment and still left him with enough money to keep the bar running and earn a good living. Throughout the week the turnover on average was around two to three thousand pounds per night and at the weekend he would clear five grand per night easily; so he was making £30.000 per week but then there was the rent and the cost of food and drinks. Luckily he had a good supplier who could get both very cheaply.

The food arrived and there was plenty of it which the lads struggled to finish.

Barry’s steak was perfection and he liked the Potatas Brava’s as well.

Barry noticed a Silver Lamborghini being parked up and out got this tall handsome Spaniard with black shoulder length hair tied in a ponytail. He wore a white suit was bedecked in gold and really looked the part. The women in the bar were immediately drawn to him and Barry watched as he chatted away. He certainly was a smooth operator.

Dave brought him over to the table after they had finished eating and their plates removed.

Dave introduced him to Barry and the rest of the lads and he ordered drinks for them and then sat down with them.’

“Look Mr Cabrera I won’t beat around the bush with you.’

“My friends and I are all looking to buy property here in Tenerife.

“How much are you prepared to invest?’

“£300.000 each.’

“I see, well there are some new developments going on as we speak you may be interested in. Three new hotels are being built in Puerto de la Cruz. I can take you out there tomorrow.’

“That would be fine by us.

“If I pick you up from your hotel at say 7am would you be ready by then?’

“Yes, we have no transport yet but we hope to get a car tomorrow.’

“Leave that with me said Ray as he told them that he knew a dealer who would get them a good car.’

“You must come to my casino later it’s not far from here it’s called “Aces and Kings” do you know it?’

“Yes, we passed that on the way to Las Americas.’

“You must come as my guests.’

“Thank you Mr Cabrera said Barry, who was doing most of the talking.’

“How did you all make your money Gentlemen?’

“We are all in the property game back in England said Barry we bought when houses were going cheap and then sold them and made a lot of money.’

“Are you hoping to do that here?’

“Who knows; we will see.’

“A tribute band came on and Barry was surprised at how quickly the bar had filled up with families. Children as young as ten sat at the tables with their parents. Some listened whilst others danced around the floor. Balloons and party hats were given out to the children to play with and keep them amused for a few hours.’
