After everyone ate we sat out by the campfire playing truth or dare. “Umm… Matt” Sammy said, the blonde haired girl from our school.
“Truth.” Matt said unamused.
“Have you ever kissed Taylor before?” Sammy asked.
He looked me in the eye then back at Sammy, “Yes, in sixth grade.”
Matt asked someone else right away wanting to forget that question, “Cole truth or dare.”
“Truth.” He smirked.
Matt thought for a moment, “Are you a virgin?”
Cole smirked, “Nope.” He said popping the p.
After rounds of people doing stupid stuff, a girl named Emma, who I haven't talked to before asked me. “Taylor truth or Dare?”
“Dare.” I stated quickly hoping it wasn’t something bad.
“I dare you to play seven minutes of heaven with Matt. You know update each other's kissing skills.” Everybody oohed and chuckled. “Go in the bathroom and keep the light off.”
I looked over at Cole who had a smug smile on his face as to say ‘Nothing will have compared to our kiss in the car.’
Emma led us up to the bathroom, “I’ll get you when the time is up.” She closed the door behind her. I fumbled to find the lightswitch. “Hey turn off that light.” Emma said from outside the door.
I looked at Matt who stood there looking me with his intense blue eyes. I turned off the light, locked the door, turned around, and took a couple steps forward. I could hear his breath sounds and mine. I jolted from his hand on my waist. He placed the other on the side of my face. Leaned down and kissed me. I tangled my fingers in his hair. He crushed me to him and backed against the wall. Without breaking the kiss he slid down the wall so I was now straddling him. His kisses were desperate. I couldn’t get enough of him. His fingers flicked open a button on my cardigan-then two, three, four. It tumbled off my shoulders, leaving me in my camisole. He pushed up the hem, teasing and stroking his thumb across my stomach. My breath came in a sharp intake of air. He groaned, moving his hands to my butt. There was heat in my stomach, I couldn’t stop kissing him, and he couldn’t stop kissing me.
“Alright that’s time.” Emma said from outside the door.
We both quickly stood up, and fixed ourselves up. I unlocked and opened the door, my face burning. We both walked to the campfire and sat in our spots. Everybody looked at us and saw how we had messed up our appearance while in the bathroom. The night went on smoothly, and as time passed people started leaving. Soon it was just John, Matt, Katrina, and I.
“We better be going.” John said. Katrina stood up with him. We said our goodbyes then they left.
I looked at Matt, “That was…”
“I better be going.” He said standing up. He left without another word. I put out the fire with the house and walked back inside. In my room I laid in bed thinking about both kisses today and who they came from.
The next day I spent cleaning up the house and backyard, and Katrina did not come and help with that like she did with planning the party. So I was stuck by myself. After grabbing all the garbage I took it out to the street. On the way back in I saw a blue gift bag sitting on the porch. On the tag it said from Cole. I took it inside to open it, in the bag was four candles all nature scented. I smiled and took them upstairs and lit one. After the house was back to normal, I watched tv and did nothing else for the remainder of the day.
“Hi hunny, oh I missed you so much!” My mom said as she hugged me in the entryway.
“I missed you too. How was New York?” I said hugging her.
“It was amazing. And a lot noisier than I had expected.” She said walking into the kitchen.
I smiled, “Did you get me anything?”
“You know me too well.” She grabbed her suitcase and unzipped it. She pulled out a pair of crocs, “You have always wanted a pair, so I got some from the actual store.”
I gasped, “Thank you” I said putting the black rubber shoes on. “They fit perfect.”
“I’m glad. I need to take a shower and get some sleep. It’s been a long week.” She grabbed her suitcase and went upstairs. As it was Sunday and nothing was open, I decided to keep my brain active and read. I sat in my room all alone, which was getting really boring. I needed human interaction. At that very moment Katrina called me saying that her parents surprised her and her brother with a trip to Hawaii. She went on and on about how her dad got a bonus at work and how her parents gave her a card to tell them that they were going. After what had seemed like forever, I lied saying that my mom just got home and wanted to talk about her trip, and hung up. Maybe I didn’t need human interaction that much.
The next morning I got up, and could tell my mom was home. I smelt pancakes, the days of cereal were over! I ran downstairs, to see my mom all ready for the day.
“Why are you all ready?” I asked grabbing a plate out of the cupboard.
“Well my agent wants to talk about some more interviews and possibly a book signing when it is time.” She answered.
“Oh. I have to work today, so I won’t be home.” I stated.
“Lifeguarding or swim lessons?” She asked.
I grabbed a pancake and sat down at the table. “Swim lessons, I have to teach a new girl today.” I explained.
She smiled, “Well she has a great teacher.”
‘I rolled my eyes, “You have to say that you’re my mom.”
“I don’t have to do anything.” She looked at her watch, “Well I better g if i’m going to make that meeting.” She kissed me on the head, “Love you.”
“Love you too.”
I didn’t have lessons until later in the day, so I took my time getting ready. Finishing up, it was almost time to go. I changed into my swimsuit and shirt, grabbed my car keys and drove off.
Once I was there I saw Katrina, “Hey.”
“Hey, whos shadowing you?” She asked
“I’m not sure, let me check.” I grabbed the clipboard and scanned it. Rylee Johnson. That name sounds familiar. It dawned on me, that was the girl who Matt kissed. “I got Rylee Johnson.”
“Oh, she’s energized.” She said raising her eyebrows.
Kylie, my boss, started talking telling all the new parents the rules of the pool. After announcing who was all in my group I started walking to the 3ft part of the pool.
A girl with blonde hair, who seemed about my age tapped me on the shoulder, “Hi, i’m Rylee Johnson. I was told to shadow you today.”
“Alright, umm.” I paused. “How many times have you shadowed before?”
“This is my first time.” She smiled. I have no idea how Matt could have handled this much energy in one person.
“Okay so today you will just watch and take mental notes.” I said turning around to see the children. By the time swim lessons were done, it was dark outside. I had a migraine form the constant questions that Rylee asked. When I got home I took some ibuprofen for the migraine and sat at the kitchen table eating the leftovers from last nights supper. My mom walked into the kitchen.
“So, I have some news.” She smiled.
She sat at the table next to me, “My agent got me on a talk show to talk about my book!” She exclaimed.
“That’s great!” I gave her a hug. “When the interview?”
“It’s on Wednesday. In Miami.” She said.
“That’s awesome. Will you be back on Thursday for my birthday?”
“Of course. I would take a late plane back on Wednesday and be here early on Thursday morning.” She smiled.
We talked until my eyes started watering form the chlorine smell covering my body, telling me it was time to take a shower.
Hey, I don't know if Taylor should be with Matt or Cole. Leave a comment telling me who you think should be with Taylor.
