I had to talk to Matt and since he wasn’t answering his phone, I went over to his house. Matt’s mom Diane answered the door.
“Hi is Matt home?” I asked her.
“He should be up in his room.” She stated, opening the door wider so I could come in. “Is everything okay?” She asked concerned.
“Yeah, I just have a question on our history homework.” I lied smiling.
“Oh okay.” She continued on with her cleaning.
I come over here quite a lot, so I know this house like I do my own. After going up the flight of stairs and taking a left I was outside his room. His door was closed, so I knocked as I entered, then closing the door behind me. “Hey”
“Hey” he mumbled.
“I just broke up with Aaron.” I said breaking the ice.
Matt looked up from his homework wide eyed, but then looked back down.
“Look we need to talk about what happened.” I sternly said as I sat down on his bed.
He put his pencil down and turned around in his desk chair. “Okay.”
“Why did you kiss me?”
He relaxed in his chair a little and picked at his nails, “I think I just got caught up in the moment.”
I blushed a little, “I think we both did.”
“Can we just pretend that this never happened, please?” He looked up with pleading eyes.
“Yeah.” I said.
“Thanks” He gratefully said.
Changing the subject I said, “Apparently Katrina and John are taking their relationship to the next level tonight.”
Raising his eyebrows, “ Is that so. Now almost all the other juniors on the varsity tennis team have had sex.”
“Really? Who hasn’t” I said thinking of all the people on the tennis team.
“Me.” He groaned.
“Oh. If it makes you feel any better I haven’t either.” I said reassuring. We talked until his mom dropped off laundry and told me what time it was.
“I better be going. I’ll see you on Monday.” I said getting up from his bed. As I headed back down the flight of stairs I was washed over with relief. I don’t have the weight of Aaron over my shoulders, I got the kiss figured out, and my mom got a book deal. After I got back to my house, I ate some leftover spaghetti, then went to bed. I got up the next morning to the sound of my alarm clock at 8:00, remembering that I had to work I rolled out of bed and turned off my alarm. I grabbed my lifeguard swimsuit, some black shorts, and my clean lifeguard t shirt and went into the bathroom, where I got ready. Walking out of the bathroom like a whole new person, I skipped downstairs to eat breakfast. Just then my phone rang, it was my mom. “Hey mom!” I said excitedly.
“Hey, I wish you were here! New York is so much different than Wisconsin.” She squealed
“So do I.” I agreed.
“How are you doing by yourself?” She asked.
Grabbing my breakfast out of the toaster I answered, “Great! I have to go I have to leave for work in a couple minutes.”
“Okay sweetie, call if you need anything okay.” She demanded.
“I will mom I love you!” I said reassuring.
“Love you too. Bye” She hung up the phone
I ate my breakfast and went upstairs to get my things for work and headed out the door. The pool is about 15 minutes away from where I live, so I just listened to the radio instead of putting a CD in. After I got to the pool and was in the locker room I saw Katrina.
She smiled at me, “Hey”
“How was it?” I asked knowing she was dying to tell me.
She closed her eyes remembering it, “Amazing”
“Whatever, nobody has ever has a good go on their first time.” I said rolling my eyes.
“Well now there is one person who has.” She retorted, jamming her things in her locker next to mine. “Hey what are you doing for your birthday?” She said changing the subject.
“I’m not sure. Maybe just have some friends over and hang out.” I shrugged.
“Oh no, you are turning 17. This is be the best you ever had!” She squealed.
“I have to get to the tower, I will talk to you later about this.” I said walking off. I grabbed my fanny pack and rescue tube and walked to my station. Nothing good happened for the rest of the day. At 4:30 my shift was done so I just went home and was lazy. I studied for some of my finals for tomorrow, took a shower, then went to bed.
