Him [ A Werewolf Tale ] *Completed*

When I was 13 years old, my entire family committed suicide, by driving full speed off a thirty foot bridge. Morbid, I know. Unfortunately, they deemed themselves unfit to live and ended it the only way they knew how. They had gotten themselves stuck in something deep and dark with a couple of the demons around our neighborhood and their contract was coming due. So at the age of only 13, I was left to fend myself and survive in a world full of vampires, werewolves, and demons.
~
My name is Claire Summers and my family had once ran one of the most powerful werewolf packs in North America. That is, however, only because of a contract held by a certain grey eyed demon. Since my parents died, I have been shunned. Disowned by everyone and unwanted in every sense. For the first time in my life I was completely and utterly alone. Until I met him

38. Chapter 36 | The Meeting

Chapter 36

Anxiousness is a strange feeling. When your stomach contracts into knots and your breathing becomes shaky. When you can't get a word out, your body stunned into silence by the situation. That was how I felt.

He was coming, that's all I knew. I didn't have the heart to tell Alex, I knew that he would go all protective gorilla on me if he knew.

'But he could protect you from him.' my wolf whispers.

"That doesn't mean anything." I snap, "He can't find out. He can't know my history."

'Like it would be so bad? Our mate deserves to know.' she argues.

"He'll fly off the handle. You know what he'll do." I whisper.

'You know that he'll find out eventually right?' she questions.

"Of course I know this." I growl, "He just doesn't need to know about this right now."

'You mean about the fact that you are practically his?' she says.

"I'm not his." I spit.

'Claire, he should know about this.' she pleads, 'Please tell him.'

"No." I spat.

'Claire, the Alpha bought you, you realize that, right?' she questions, 'He has a right with the council to come get you. By law, you are his.'

"That law is bullshit!" I screech, "How in the hell is it legal?! To sell a person to someone else, that's slavery!"

'Not to werewolves it isn't. You know this, Claire.' she mumbles, 'As long as your guardian puts you in the betting ring, it's legal.'

A shaky wisp of air leaves my lips, "Don't you think that I know that? That's the exact reason that I can't tell him. If Alex hurts him in anyway, then our mate dies."

'But, like mate said before, it is better to tell him than for him to be blindsided by it. Because he will find out, Claire.' she explains.

Fine." I mutter, "I will tell him before the meeting tomorrow."

"Claire?" a voice questions, "Who are you talking to?"

Spinning on my heel, I find Alex standing a couple feet from me with a confused look on his face. We were outside of my room, I had attempted to push open the door, but found myself too distracted.

"Um... No one." I shake my head, "Just my wolf."

He holds my gaze for a second before slowly nodding his head.

"Is everything prepped for the Alpha meeting tomorrow?" I ask, still trying to clear my thoughts.

"Yeah." he nods, giving me a questioning look, "Why?"

I shrug, "No reason. Just curious."

He bites his lip, his gaze not leaving me, "You sure?"

"Yeah, it was nothing." I wave my hand.

"You gonna be okay?" he mumbles, "Cause I know that earlier-"

"Yep." I cut him off, "I'll be fine. I'm actually going to head to bed."

I narrows his eyes at that and steps forward, "It's four in the afternoon."

"I'm just a bit stressed out after what happened. I want to go rest." I lie.

His eyes soften and he nods his head, "Of course. Go ahead."

I send him a tight-lipped smile and lean forward, giving him a peck on the lips. Once we separate, I back into the room and close the door behind me. A gust of air leaving my lungs. I walk over to the bed and collapse onto it, my eyes closing. It is only a moment, before darkness consumes me.

~~~~~
The next morning was chaos. Alex was yelling at everyone, causing many to cower away from him. He was stressed, I could tell.
"WHERE THE FUCK IS THE SHADOW PACK ALPHA?!" he screeches, slamming his fist down on the table in front of him.
I place a hand on his shoulder attempting to calm him down, but he roughly pushes my hand off. He storms out of the room and I am met with the curious looks of various Alpha's. I smile kindly at everyone, before bowing my head and following Alex out of the room. He is leaning against the wall with his eyes closed as I step out of the room.
"What is wrong with you?" I hiss.
His eyes snap open and he gives me a cold glare.
"Why don't you tell me, Claire?" he challenges, "Something you'd like to share with me?"
My eyebrows scrunch up and I shake my head no.
"Well that's funny, cause your wolf does." he chuckles sarcastically.
My eyes widen and I mumble, "What did you find out?"
"Why wouldn't you tell me something like that?" he snaps, "That by law he owns you."
"You can't do anything about it." I shrug, "I knew that you would go crazy and I didn't want that to happen."
"Goddess, Claire." he breathes, "I can't do anything about that, do you understand?"
I seal my lips shut and nod my head.
"You knew that and you let me invite him to this meeting anyway?" he spits, "Claire, do you understand that he can walk in here and legally take you away from me?"
Again, I nod my head.
"Claire, I can't touch him, you know that. But the best that I could have done was to at least ban him from our pack." he explains, "Now if he chooses he can take you today."
"I'm sorry." I whisper, bowing my head.
He grips my chin, softly, connecting his gaze with mine, "We'll figure it out, right? We always do."
I nod my head again and with a sigh, Alex intertwines our fingers together. He tugs me after him and back into the room filled with Alpha's. We were currently waiting on 2 last Alpha's. There were probably around 7 or 8 Alphas sitting in the conference room. Alex's face turns passive and he glares at nearly every Alpha in the room.
Looking over at a woman standing in the corner, he questions, "Where is my brother?"
"I will go find out right now, Alpha." she nods before scurrying towards the door.
She reaches out to grab the doorknob, but the door is suddenly thrown open. A man with similar characteristics to Alex steps into the room. The first thing that I notice about him are his striking grey eyes.
"Brother," he exclaims, going over to Alex, pulling him into a bro-hug.
He glances over in my direction before a smile creeps onto his lips.
"You must be, Claire." he smirks.
"How did you know that?" Alex snaps, pushing me behind him.
"You've talked to me about her, don't you remember brother?" the man questions, cocking her head.
Alex is staring daggers at his brother and he spits, "I've never said a word about her to you."
His brother's eyes widen unnoticably and he quickly covers it up.
He exclaims, "Well then I must have heard it among the pack!"
"Adam, don't lie to me." Alex mutters.
So his name is Adam.
"I'm not, brother." he smiles a toothy smile, going to sit in one of the large chairs on the other side of the desk.
Alex pulls me closer to him subtly and breathes in the smell of my hair. Although I doubt that anyone missed this, they were all staring at me in awe.
"I never thought that I would see the day that someone would actually tame Alex Westwood!" One of the Alphas chortle, causing laughter to erupt across the room.
The cold hard gaze of Alex's sweeps across the room, every single Alpha snapping their mouths shut and bowing their heads. I place my hand on his shoulder again and he looks down at me. I give him a small smile and slowly his eyes soften.
"Is he here?" he mumbles, sitting down in the large chair in front of the table.
With a shake of my head, I take a seat beside him and he pulls my chair closer to his.
"To begin, many of you have not been formerly introduced to my mate." Alex starts, "Everyone, this is Claire. And if any of you take longer than one glance at my mate, I will burn your eyes out of your sockets."
Every Alpha in the room immediately lowers their eyes to the floor, except Adam's. His burning gaze sears through me and I cannot help but think that his eyes look strikingly familiar.
One of the Alpha's speaks up, "She looks to be a wonderful Luna, Alpha."
"Thank you, Darryl." Alex says in a monotonous voice.
Alex opens his mouth to continue, but is interrupted when the door is thrown upon with a bang.
The thing that I fear the most at the moment saunters in. I scoot my chair even closer to Alex. The Alpha steps into the room and smirks down at me.
"Hello, beautiful." he chuckles, his eyes flickering up to Alex, "Am I interrupting?"
"Scott." Alex snaps, "Take a seat."
The Alpha...Scott...mockingly drops his jaw, "You naughty girl! You didn't tell him, did you?"
I make no move to answer, my mouth sewn shut like a deer in the headlights.
"She's mine, Alex." he smirked, cocking his head to the side.
"It's Alpha to you." Alex growls.
A smile breaks onto Scott's face and he slowly makes his way across the room and sits in the final chair on the opposite side.
The Alpha's are staring at me with confusion. Adam remains glaring at the man and does not move his eyes even when the meeting concludes. All the Alpha's agreed to back our pack up if there was to be a war, although a few took a while to convince. Scott's eyes have not left me the entire meeting. Alex dismisses the remaining Alpha's until it is only Alex, Adam, Scott, and myself in the room.
Alex glares daggers at Scott and he smirks, "You can't touch me, Alpha."
A deep feral sound echoes across the room and Alex takes a step forward.
"You can't touch me. One finger and I'll go to the council." Scott challenges, "I will get my bride and you have nothing that you can do."
It is Adam's turn to let out a growl. All eyes turn to him and he snaps, "You won't touch my sister-in -law."
"Watch me." Scott gloats, walking past me and making sure that his shoulder brushes mine.
He walks out, the door slamming behind him.
Oh Goddess. What am I going to do?
