When I heard his deep voice with the Chesire accent, my heart rate went through the roof.
I was almost left speechless, but realized that he was waiting for me to say something.
"I--U-Um---Hi?" I said, finally able to get actual words out.
I heard him chuckle. "Madison, seems that something's got your tongue."
Even though he couldn't see me, I blushed.
Why was I THIS affected by him?!?!
It had been such a short time since we both had met each other.
"Y-Yeah, you kinda have something to do with that." I say, making him laugh.
"So what's up?" He asks.
"W--Well, I was wondering if I could meet you somewhere....?" I say.
"Actually, I'm at the garage right now, but if you'd like to come down, you're more than welcome." He says.
Smiling, I nodded, even though he couldn't see me. "Yeah, I'll come."
His cheery voice made me happy and feeling pretty high.
"Alright, I'll be waiting for you." He said and I smiled.
I hung up and then went to grab my keys.
Josie was immediately in front of me, smirking an evil smirk. "Where are you headed?"
"To the garage in town." I say innocently.
"Can't stay away from him, can you?" She giggles.
"It's not funny!" I say defensively. "And no, right now--For some reason--that is impossible..." I mutter the last part.
She laughs and I head out the door.
Strange as it was, Harry had awakened something in me like no other guy ever had....Some odd feeling of want and love.
This couldn't be love though.....Could it?
It scared me to even think about this possibly even turning into something more than just a fling.
I was nervous, I was stressed and I was scared!
Jose thought this whole thing was just hilarious, but believe me, it wasn't in the nearest bit hilarious to me.
As I got into my car and the engine roared to life, I looked at my reflection in my rear-view mirror.
Something seemed different about me....My appearance looked different...It was sorta like, I was--Dare I say--Glowing with happiness.
As I backed out of the driveway and made my way into town, I constantly regretted doing this.
My palms were sweating because I was so nervous!
I couldn't concentrate and by the time I had pulled up to the garage where Harry worked, it was too late.
My concentration completely left me as I gazed straight into a stall, finding Harry lying on the ground, working on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
"Oh, crap." I said plainly as I kept staring at him.
His brown, curly hair was kept away from his eyes and face by a black bandana and his white T-shirt was covered with oil stains and dirt.
I watched as he started messing with something with a wrench.
He had on black boots that were covered with dirt and black skinny jeans which were slightly dirty.
I watched him move and concentrate, not realizing that HE was the only thing I was concentrating on right now!
His hands continued to fiddle with something on the motorcycle and I sighed, my teeth biting my bottom lip as I watched.
Finally, I decided to move in closer.
So, I got out of my car and walked into the stall where he was.
Some rock band was playing at a low volume on a radio somewhere within the building and I was so silent that Harry hadn't even noticed.
His arms, elbows and fingers were dirt with oil and places on his face and neck were the same way.
I moved just slightly towards him, admiring the way he looked right now(Even though he was dirty) and kicked something with my foot, making his head jerk slightly up and towards me.
I looked down to see that I had kicked a wrench just a few inches away and then looked back up smiling innocently.
"Sorry." I said.
Then concentrated look on his face turned into a huge smile and I bit my lip again.
"Hello Madison." He said in that accent that was constantly haunting my mind.
"Hello Harry." I said gazing into his emerald green orbs.
He slid away from the Harley and stood up, grabbing an oil cloth and cleaning his hand.
He looked hot and sweaty, but I didn't mind. Not as long as I was with him.
"So, kicking wrenches around, are we?" He asked chuckling as he looked down, cleaning his hands.
"It was an accident--I was just watching." I say.
The smile on his grew even more as he looked back up at me. "Watching, eh?"
Blushing slightly, I tried my best not to avoid his gaze.
"So what exactly were you 'watching'?" He says air-quoting the word.
"That depends, would you like me to be honest or tell the truth?" I ask.
He chuckles, looking down then up, placing his hands on his hips. "The truth as always."
"Then I was watching you." I said honestly.
He nodded. "That's what I thought."
I smiled, then looked over ta the motorcycle. "I see you're fixing a Harley."
"Mine to be exact." He says smiling. "The guy said that if I could fix it, I could have it. He had grandkids and thought that a motorcycle was too dangerous to be riding, since he wanted to watch them grow up."
I nod. "Nice."
He smiled as I gazed at it.
A midnight black in color with silver chrome outlining it.
It was beautiful! And not very inexpensive, I guessed.
"Yeah, I'm hoping to get it working soon. My boss said that I could work on it when teh shop was empty or I had finished." He says.
I looked into his eyes. "That's great! I hope that you get it fixed."
"Yeah, it would sure be a change from my old '64 Camaro." He says.
My eyes widened. "You like vintage cars?"
"Sorta...It depends really, but the cars built from way-back-when lasted longer than the metal they make today." He says. "I actually redone the exterior and paint on it. And I re-built the engine."
I was shocked. "Wow!" I was speechless. "You must really like cars."
"Working and re-building them is my thing. It's fun." He says shrugging. "Would you like to see my Camaro?"
I nod. "Heck yeah!"
He smiles and set the rag down on a tool holder, taking me out of the garage and around to the back.
When I see it, it was incredible, but like the bike, the car was the exact same color.
Black with silver chrome.
He opened the door and I peeked inside after making sure it was ok with him.
He let me sit in the drivers seat and I looked at the inside of teh car with amazement.
"This is epic." I said in surprise. "You're really skilled at this."
"Why thank you, Madison." He said smiling.
I got out and he closed the door.
"Can I ask you a question?" I said.
"Go right ahead." He leaned against his car and I smiled.
"Do you have a thing for the color black or does it just follow you?" I ask.
He chuckles. "Black is my choice of color for a car. It makes things more mysterious and dangerous in my opinion."
"Is that what you are? Dangerous and mysterious?" I ask, the word 'Danger' screaming out at me.
He smiles. "Sometimes."
"How long have you been working on cars?" I ask, trying to smoothely change the subject.
He smiled. "Ever since I was ten--My father let me work with him in his shop."
I nodded my head.
Why was the word circling my head now....Now that he's said it I can definitely feel danger surrounding him.
"So, why did you want to come over so quickly?" He asks as we start walking back towards the garage.
"W-Well," I stutter, taken off guard. "I wanted to see you again."
"And you've been avoiding me for how many days?" He says chuckling.
Instantly, I feel bad. "I'm so sorry....I just---You make me feel different and it scares me slightly."
He turns to look at me smiling. "I make YOU feel different?"
"You're different than any other guy I've met." I say.
He chuckles. "It's not the first time I've heard that.....Although, coming from you, I like it."
I turn my gaze to the floor, trying to keep my blush under control and then I notice that he's stopped walking.
Looking up, I gaze into his green eyes which hold so many secrets to me, and he looks around, then back at me.
"Tell you what, what why don't you let me finish work and then get cleaned up, then I'll take you out tonight?" He suggests.
My eyes widen and my lips become frozen, but I make them move. "S-sure!"
He smiles at me. "Then I'll pick you up at seven?"
"That's fine." I say smiling.
The smile on his face shows much more than happiness, it shows excitement. "I'll take you to a movie then."
Smiling, I nod. "That's good."
"I'll see you then, Madison." He says watching me.
I start moving towards my car, excpet backwards.
"See you too, Harry." I say, not wanting to break our eye contact with each other.
Getting into my car, I release the breath I've been holding and then leave, thinking about Harry every inch of the way home.
