18. Chapter 18
All you could see were flashes of color within all the red dirt that had formed like smoke around the track.
I had no clue who was winning because I couldn't see!
The engines were loud, but I dealt with it well.
Sabrina sat next to me the entire time, telling me of how her and the guys were best friends and how she and Harry used to work together.
When the engines died down, I could hear her more clearly.
I paid close attention and listened like a curious child as she continued.
"We worked together at the garage in town, but when my little sister came to live with me I had to quit." She says. "Yeah, I was making good money, but the hours were too long and I had other things to take care of."
"He's very skilled in mechanics." She smiles as she looks at the track. "Harry was the number one requested mechanic at the garage when I worked there. Now he's doing it pretty much all by himself, other than Zack helping sometimes."
The name and person was unfamiliar to me. I had never seen 'Zack' and Harry had never mentioned him--Although I had been at the garage alot lately.
"The garage tends to keep things off of Harry's mind....He's been through alot these past few years." She said.
Her words cut my heart like a knife and I almost froze in my place.
I really wanted to ask more about what happened, but then I realized that if Harry wanted me to know, then he'd let me know.
As I watched the red cloud of dust die down, I seen someone jumping up and down excited outside of their car.
It took me a few seconds to realize that it was Axel.
He must have won!
Smiling, I then seen Harry behind him, standing on the track, the Louis and then Cody.
Sabrina smiled. "Yep, Axel is one of the 'surprisers'. Everything will be fine and he'll be in third or forth, then he really hits the gas and he flies to the finish."
We both laughed.
"So it's always this way?" I ask.
"No, not always....Although, Axel and Harry are the top two winners." She says looking at me.
"What does the winner get?" I ask.
She turns to gaze back at the track. "Well, it differs from time to time."
Nodding, I stood up and so did she.
We made our way down the steps and over to the fence that seperated us from the track.
"Hey Axel, what did ya win?" Sabrina hollered.
He smiled at her and winked. "How about a date with you?"
She blushed slightly. "That's fine with me."
I smiled at them thinking of how cute this was.
Sabrina opened the gate and we walked through, onto the track.
Harry came over and pulled me close to him. He was dirty and so was his car, but I just didn't want to let go of him.
I snuggled into his chest and he smiled, kissing my head.
"Ready to go, love?" He asked and I nodded.
For some odd reason, I really wanted to take a nap, even though I had slept well last night.
We got into his car after saying our 'goodbyes' and then we left.
I watched the scenery go by as he drove, but when we pulled up to a house, I frowned.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"My house." He smiled.
"Oh..." I said as if the answer should've been clear.
"I have to shower and change real quick." He says.
Nodding, I un-buckle and get out as he does.
He walks me to the front door and welcomes me in as he kicks his shoes off.
He had a very nice house and it was incredibly clean.
After he had showed me where the living room was, he left to go shower and I made myself at home.
As I waited for him to come back, I watched TV.
For a few minutes, I was fine and then sleep decided to overtake me....So I gave in.
