“Okay, you have to tell me everything about you and Joey,” Monica looks at me.

“You want me to tell you,” I point out. “I don’t have to talk at all.”

“Oh come on,” she pouts. “Joey has never had a longtime girlfriend, and you two haven’t even slept together yet. I’m so curious to what he’s like. The girls can’t believe how he has changed.”

“Neither can I, after all the stories I was told. Something about what happened with Kathy is why he’s changed. She hurt him, and he doesn’t want that to happen again. Plus, I’m different, he keeps saying.”

“Too cute. When did this all start? I mean you’ve only been in the city six months, and you are at work or writing most of the time. Then you’ve had to deal with pregnant Phoebe for four months.”

“Joey has made that bearable. I love Phoebe, but the mood swings are too much. My job is very important to me, and I can’t believe it has been six months. My novel is slow coming then.”

“You and Joey though. How did it all start?”

“Oh, yes. Um, well, on Christmas Eve, when I was over at his and Chandler’s place, and it was just us while Chandler was out getting dinner. We were talking, and then he got really flirty. I rejected him, though.”

“What? And he didn’t let it go?”

“He couldn’t. Wait, was that some sarcasm?”

          “Just a tad.”

“Anyways, on New Year’s Eve, we talked for a long time. Then at midnight, he gave me the lightest of kisses.”

“And that was it for you?”

“No, not even close. The kiss was nice, yes, but I couldn’t commit. He never rushed me. Not once, and that was too sweet. I agreed to a date. Just one. That one was perfect. We could not stop talking, and he let me pay for dinner, and the kiss at the apartment door sealed it all.”

“Incredible. I wish I had a story like that. Your kids will have a treat.”

“We haven’t even said ‘I love you.’ This might not work out.”

“It will. You two are lobsters. It is meant to be.”

I shrug, “Maybe this trip will open doors for relationships.”

“I’d love that,” Monica smiles. “Back to you though. You’ve been on dates, kissed, fell asleep together, but no sex. Why?”

“That’s all that Joey has ever been about, and I don’t want that to be what our relationship is based on. Until I know it is the perfect time. We haven’t been dating for long anyways.”

“You’ve been on tons of dates. That usually means something.”

“It would to the old Joey, but now he is okay going my pace. He doesn’t want to lose me.”

          “Chandler still doesn’t know?”

“Of course not. He would kill us if he knew right now. I give it six more months.”

          “You’re happy though?”

“Happier than I’ve been in a while. Not just thanks to Joey.”

“Well, I’m glad you moved and are part of the group.”

I smile, “That means a lot. Now, how much longer on the plane ride?”
