“It has been very nice talking to you, Joey, and getting to know more,” I smile as a yawn escapes my lips. “Thank goodness I’m staying over at your place tonight.”

“How can you be tired?” Joey chuckles. “Do you not like parties?”

“Well, I don’t know anyone here. Besides a select few, and we’ve been sitting on the couch just talking. That doesn’t get the blood pumping.”

“Moving on then,” he leans in just a tad. “How are you liking the books?”

“Oh, they are so good. Well, I mean, I’m only reading one right now, but it is awesome. Thank you again.”

“No problem,” he smirks. “Are you ready to get back to work?”

“Well, I haven’t really started yet. I am though. Even if I am starting at the bottom. I will work hard to make it to the top.”

“That’s a good attitude. I hope to get back into TV, and hopefully a movie.”

“You will. Don’t you even worry about it. Say, next audition you have, I’ll come with you. Just give me a couple day notice.”

“That would be very cool of you. I’ll try and remember for the next time.”

I nod, “Good. Do you know how much longer until midnight? I am so tired.”

“Someone will announce the one-minute mark. Don’t stress, you can make it. Seriously, why are you so tired?”

“I don’t know,” I yawn. “Ugh, this is not cool.”

Joey chuckles, “I think it’s cute.”

I tenderly smile, “You’ve been flirty since Christmas, and I don’t know how to feel about it. Do you think you are going to get with me?”

“If I try hard enough, yes.”

“One minute!” A man shouts out.

I giggle, “You sure won’t give up.”

“Of course not,” he smirks. “Have you ever been kissed at midnight?”

          “Probably. Years ago. Why?”

          “Just wait.”

“Okay. Who are these people, anyways?”

          “Co-workers of the others.”

“Ten seconds!” The same man shouts out.

Everyone begins counting down, and I feel a small burst of energy. Joey takes a quick glance around the room, and as the countdown reaches one, he leans in even closer.

“Happy New Year,” Joey whispers. Then he gently connects our lips for a split second.

My face heats up in an instant, “Oh.”

He leans back, a smirk on his lips. “Anything?”

All I can do is nod.

          “Ah, I knew it would.”

          “Chandler didn’t see, right?”

          “I made sure. Don’t worry.”

“Can we head to bed now?”

“Sure. Let’s head across the hall."
