“This is too sweet of you, Phoebe,” I smile as I sit down at the table in the kitchen. “Everything smells so good.”
“Just being a good host,” Phoebe transfer something from the skillet to two plates.
“Is it vegetarian?” I rub sleep from my eye.
“You’re vegetarian too?” Phoebe spins around. A huge smile on her face.
“Um, I was, and to an extent I still am. I don’t eat that much meat. However, I must have dairy.”
She chuckles, “Well, I am a vegetarian, but when I go shopping, I’ll buy some dairy items for you.”
“Aw, Phoebe, you are so sweet,” I give a small smile. “You are making it too easy to stay here for an undetermined amount of time,” I slowly yawn.
“Can I stay here, for more than just a week?” I don’t mean to use my puppy-dog eyes, but I can’t help it.
“Of course,” she turns back to her cooking. “No need to use the sad, dog in the window, eyes. I would have said yes no matter what. Having a roommate will be so much fun.”
I lean back in my seat, “Thanks so much, Phoebe. Say, I don’t have to go to my first day of work until after the holidays. I’d love to just follow you around.”
“Now that sad dog eyes make sense.”
I laugh, “That look is my secret weapon to get whatever I want.”
Phoebe pours orange juice into two cups. “I believe that.” She grabs the cups and turns back towards me, placing once in front of me and one for the spot to the right of me. Toast pops up, and Phoebe spins right back around to finish the two breakfast plates. Then she places a plate in front of me and the other on the spot to my right.
“This smells and looks great,” I sit back up and take in my breakfast. Hash-browns, muffins, berries, scrambled eggs, and little pancakes. “Thanks again Phoebe.”
“No big deal, Ash,” she places napkins and silverware in the middle of the table before sitting down in the chair to my right. “So I’m guessing that you’ll be spending the holidays with us.
“Of course,” I grab my cup and take a quick sip. “I’ll have to go shopping for presents for Christmas, though. I never thought Chandler would have so many friends.
Phoebe laughs, “He is quite awkward.”
“I love him, and am so glad he found the five of you. It’s like a family of oddballs.”
“And now you will be a part of it.”
“I can’t wait.”
