4. Once More
Michael continually accepted my challenges to this game I'd started playing. He looked almost frustrated and I noticed myself beginning to smirk. Every time I looked away, I felt his eyes burn into me like a flame, I had to use every ounce of strength I had to not give in and look at him. If I did he would win, I'd be lost in his eyes once more and I would become just another crazy fangirl. I couldn't let that happen. I had done so well throughout the concert to win and not surrender even though I had a burning desire to, however when Wrapped around your finger began to play, my plan, my game, my wall of defence crumbled. I loved this song and it had a very deep meaning to me. Michael led the song and I gave in, looking at him fully, not daring to look away in case I missed something. He sang it with so much meaning and I just stood there, no arm movement, no recording, no dancing and no screaming. I just stood whispering the words under my breath. He glanced over to me and smirked until he realised the state I was in. I no longer looked happy, but sad and deep in thought, I wasn't dancing I was just stood there and I wasn't singing I was whispering. He looked at me confused and I gave him a weak smile.
After that, they played she looks so perfect and I partially recovered from the previous song but not fully. We cheered at the end when they did they final bow and Michael shot me a look with so many messages attached to it that it was difficult to decode. I smiled back and waved so that the last thing he saw of me appeared happy. Lilly and I waited for the crowds to go, hoping that one of their security guys would ask us backstage or for our numbers, but we were just greeted with disappointment. We got outside and the cold air hit us like icy blades, but it was almost welcoming after being in an arena for 5 hours. We wandered around the now emptying streets of Cardiff looking for the buses that would take 5SOS to their next destination. We found them quite easily and we stood waiting. Clinging to the hope we'd get to see them, just once more.
We were still waiting 2 hours later and by now the streets were quiet and deserted except for the large group of girls outside the arena.
"I'm freezing, I don't think I can feel my toes." Lilly exclaimed. "Is there anywhere we can get a drink?!" I looked around and wandered up the road slightly. I saw a 24/7 McDonald's about 5 minutes distance from where I was stood and smiled, feeling a rush of relief. "Yeah there's an all night McDonald's over there, shall we get a coffee?"
"What if we miss them?" She said, I knew how much we would regret if we missed them to get coffee because we were cold.
"Okay, I have the money and can run faster than you, so I'll grab two coffees and come back as quick as I can and if they come out try and shout them." I said, I mean I didn't want to risk missing them but if I didn't get some warmth or energy source soon I wasn't going to live.
"Okay, if you're sure, I won't let them miss you!" Lilly said shivering.
I ran down the road towards the McDonald's as quick as I could, I hadn't realised how important it was to me that I didn't miss them until there was a chance I would. I opened the door into the brightly lit shop, breathless. I ordered two coffees and a portion of chips seeing as we'd eaten very little. My order number came up and I grabbed the food and left. I began to run but then felt the scolding coffee begin to leak out of the cups. I couldn't run with the coffee. I heard screams of fan girls from up the road, out of sight but not out of earshot. I turned the corner to see the group had moved from directly outside the arena to the tour buses. One figure was stood in the mass of girls. Him. I walked as quickly as I could towards him,as I heard Lilly scream "Can I have a photo please!" He turned and smiled for a picture with her and he said something and she shook her head and made a fake person kinda face and he half smiled and moved towards the bus. I was nearly there when he gave a final look around and caught eyes with me and turned and went inside the bus. My heart ripped in two.
