To the south of Archangel, the Mempo capital lays the Orc religious heartland surrounding the Black Rock, shrine to their sinister God, Morrick. The Dead Head tribe have called for aid in untangling strange occurrences from recent times; the disappearances of their womenfolk, their children and their most savage warriors, sightings of strange and terrible creatures. A mighty Orc war boss, Ataxia, has raised his banners, his cry heard across the wastes; the tribes all across the badlands have heeded his call and gather in unprecedented numbers. It is here at Black Rock that the first council of the Pact Mundi, made up of the factions and their allies will be called and all comers will need to decide their part in the war to come. What part will the Mempo Empire have to play? What move will the Inducu and the forces of domination make next? What horrors lurk under the shadow of the Black Rock?
The FirCruthen lands have been involved in a bloody Civil war for the past two years between the Forces of the Summer King and the Winter King. The lands of Cymrja have been seized from their rightful guardian Kayle, the Dragon of Cymrja by the nefarious Winter Queen Neevie Cu who now claims the title. In the north the loyal Breag wild elves have begun to notice strange stirrings in their beloved forest, saplings don’t grow, old mighty oaks become brittle and frail and their young and old become sickly and weak with every passing day.
A dense mist creeps over the Elvesham border, moving further and further into the Breag lands with each passing day. Those who have ventured into the mist of its borders report terrifying tales of strange creatures and even stranger happenings within the mist, surely this doesn’t bode well for the Breag? Evil shadow creatures swarm in great numbers within the mist and attack anything they encounter mercilessly. Who is behind this mist and its terrifying denizens? Could it be the Winter Queen, the Crimson Fae of Elevsham or something or somebody else with plans as yet unknown? Could this be a prelude to a larger conflict as yet to come involving the Fae?
For several years now the various Mercenary groups have used a hitherto unnamed and unmapped island near the Forbidden Isles as a neutral ground to meet and to recover from the year’s events as well as a trading area free from Faction rules and interference. All are welcome here as long as they keep the peace.
For many years the Mercenary groups have been painfully aware that they as individuals, groups and even collectively don’t have the power to create items equivalent in power to the Factions Artefacts, and so they have been searching for such items or ways to make them without success.
All of that changed recently when it was discovered that there were two powerful items hidden on this very island! However, all subsequent attempts to discover their nature have failed beyond establishing that one is an item of War and the other’s nature was difficult to discern as they are hidden on a part of the island that magic cannot seem to penetrate completely.
An expedition was launched to obtain these items but it soon became evident that it was beyond the power of the Mercenaries to defeat the traps, tricks and guardians left to protect these items. Sadly, a rogue group has sold their sword brothers and sisters out to the Crimson Rain and they are preparing a military expedition to recover these items for themselves! So to avoid this catastrophic situation the Mercenaries invite all the allied Factions to the island to aid them in recovering the items and thwarting the Crimson Rain’s plans. Will your brave adventurer step forth to this challenge in the southern seas? Will your knowledge help to unlock the nature of these items and thus their power to aid your fellow free peoples in their struggles? If the answer is yes board the ships and sail south into new lands and new adventures.
