*A Few Days Later*
“Hello Alice,” I smile as my younger sister appears on my screen. “It’s nice to see you.”
“How’s Australia?” She quickly asks. “How is your apartment? Have you met anyone cool?”
I chuckle, “Australia is very pretty from the air. I haven’t really gone out to explore Sydney yet. My apartment is small, but quite nice. I’ve been taking my time to adjust to the time here. The only person I’ve met is my taxi driver to my house, and the Nando’s delivery boy.”
“Oh, well, is he cute?”
I roll my eyes, “Sure. I don’t really notice since he’s the one carrying the food that I am so hungry.”
“I guess. So, classes start in a few days, are you excited?”
“Yes and no. Yes, because this is a new experience where I can meet new people, make close friends, and possibly find someone to spend the rest of my life with. No, because I have to meet new people, make friends after leaving so many behind, and being a city that has so much bad news is scary.”
“Well, I think you’ll be fine. Mom obviously thinks so too. I mean, you wouldn’t be over there if mom didn’t think it was safe.”
“That’s very true. So, how have you been, Wonderland?” I smirk.
“I hate you so much,” she scowls. “I’ve been good. School is so boring, but at least I have a friend in every class.”
“Is Alex in any of your classes? I remember how close you two are, and how cute he is.”
Alice’s cheeks turn a light tint of red and she looks down. “He’s in a few. We aren’t that close.”
“But you think he’s cute?”
She shrugs, “I guess.”
“That is so cute,” I giggle. “My little sister has a crush.”
“No, no,” she shakes her head and looks back up. “I can’t.”
“You can’t like him. Why not?”
“He has a girlfriend.”
“Ah, I see. Who is it?”
“Some cheerleading whore.”
I stifle a laugh.
Alice glares at me, “It’s not funny. She dates all the jocks, and then when she is bored, moves on to the next guy. And for some reason none of the guys notice that, and just keep dating her because she’s attractive.”
“Well, I bet you are way prettier than her, so you just have to wait until Alex notices.”
“I’m not prettier. I’m just awkward and dorky.”
I frown, “Oh, Alice.”
My sister is not as outgoing as me, and has kept her original hair color. Her hair is long, perfectly straight, and the color of a moonless night sky. Her eyes are the color of a cloudless sky, so they are way brighter than mine. She’s only slightly shorter than me, and we have the same build. She may act five, but she’s really ten years older than that. Anyone can see that she is so pretty, but she can’t seem to see it herself.
“Can we talk about something else?” Alice sighs.
“Sure, sure,” I nod. “What do you want to talk about?”
“When you get a break, will you come home?”
“I think so. Why, do you miss me already?”
“No,” she scoffs.
I chuckle, “Well, I miss you and mom. I think a trip home for the first break would be a good idea. I bet I’ll have so many stories.”
“I can’t wait to hear them. You may even have a boyfriend then.”
“Ha, I wish. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I am so sorry that this chapter is so short, but I didn't want to keep dragging their conversation on. Next chapter will be longer, I promise. :D Hope you liked it!
