23. My People

*An Hour or so Later*

“I’m not sure if I like this shirt,” I frown as I show Ashton.

“It’s alright, it’s not you though,” Ashton shrugs. “Try another one.”

“Okay,” I walk back into the changing room and switch out of the plain T-shirt. Deciding to change into an All Time Low shirt. Then I exit again, this time with a smile on my face. “Is this more, me?”

He nods and smiles, “Yes. Very much. You like bands that I like, which is rare. I mean, I know a lot of people who have the same taste in music as me. But, they aren’t, how do I say it? My kind of people.”

“Am I your kind of person?”

“You are,” he tenderly smiles. “But you don’t seem to like me, so I guess it’s for nothing.”

“You’re such a jackass, you know that?”

“That’s what you keep telling me,” he giggles. “Try the dress on next.”

“Fine,” I stick my tongue out at him before going back into the changing room and quickly changing into the dress. I look over myself in the full body mirror. The flowery dress shows all by curves, and I feel my stomach twist. A part of me doesn’t want to show Ashton, but another part wants him to see me in it. And like me in it. Ashton is a jackass in what he does, but I can’t shake the feeling that it would be nice to get close with him.

I step out of the changing room and do a little spin for Ashton, “So, is it me?”

Ashton smirks, being pulled out of his thoughts. “I think so. I like it. You are very pretty.

I smile and try to keep the blush off my cheeks. “You really think so?”

“I do. But, I’m a jackass. So, you probably don’t like the compliment,” he shrugs.

“No, thank you for the compliment.” I step back into the changing room and shut the door, walking over and leaning against the wall. A sigh escapes my lips. He, kidnapped me. Well, not really. I did agree after he made it seem like the only option. He’s still a jackass. I will not let myself fall for him. I can’t. I won’t.

“Love, are you alright?” Ashton lightly knocks on the changing room door.

“Oh, yeah, um, I’m fine,” I sputter out. “Just, figuring out what to try on next. Or, if there is anything else to try on.”

“Oh, okay. Well, let’s hurry up so we can get your room together before nighttime.”

“Alright. I’ll finish up then we can go,” I begin gathering up the clothes I want.

“Love,” Ashton mumbles something I can’t comprehend. I don’t care, though, whatever it was, I don’t care.

After I have all that I will be keeping in my arms, and have changed back to my original clothes, I exit the changing room to see Ashton standing with his hands in his pockets.

          “You all ready?” He asks.

“Oh, ah, yeah,” I nod. “But, first, I need to say something.”

          “And what is that?”

          “I don’t hate you,” I blurt out.

“You don’t?” Ashton seems genuinely surprised.

“I don’t. That doesn’t mean I like you, it’s just. You seemed hurt before, and I don’t want you to think that I wish you were dead or something. I am still angry that you uprooted me and that you force me to live with you. But, I don’t hate you, Ashton.”

He gently smiles, “Thanks. That means a lot.”

I let out a breath I had been holding. “Okay, now that that is out of the way. Let’s check out and get the hell home. I want to make my room look so awesome.”

This one is longer than the last! They will be getting longer, I promise. I know short chapters are kind of a bummer. Anyways, hope you liked it. :)
