64. Great Adventures

*A Few Days Later*

“You guys barely come over anymore,” I pout as Luke, Calum, and Michael make it into the living room. Ashton is following with boxes of pizza.

“I think that is a lie,” Michael says. “We come over every week, and sometimes twice a week if something is wrong with the drug business.”

“It doesn’t seem like enough,” I sight as Ashton sets down the pizza on the coffee table. “Man, that pizza smells amazing. Is there any wine?”

“I’ll get it,” Ashton jogs off.

“You have him whipped,” Calum laughs as he sits down on the floor and grabs a piece of pizza.

“I do not, I just asked if we had wine and he made the decision to go get some,” I roll my eyes.

“He’s just a loving boyfriend,” Luke says. “We all should be happy he’s found someone to love so much. He’s so happy now and don’t be an ass and try to ruin that.”

“That’s why you’re my favorite, Luke,” Ashton comes back with places, wine, and plastic cups.

“You’ve always been my favorite, Lucas,” I smile. “Come sit by me.”

Luke smiles and gets off the ground, sitting next to me on the couch. “You’re my favorite out of everyone in this room, love.”

“What about your boss?” Ashton asks as he hands me a plate of pizza and a glass of wine, then sitting down next to me with his own food.

“You’re my favorite jackass,” I giggle.”

“You are not our favorite because you are our boss,” Michael says before taking a big bite of pizza.

“That’s so nice,” Ashton rolls his eyes.

I lean up and kiss his jaw, “Still my favorite jackass.”

“Hey, Rose, have you started writing a novel yet?” Calum asks.

“Ha, I have been thinking a lot about a plot. I want to do a memoir kind of thing, or possibly take an event in my life and change it up a bit. I’ve also been thinking of writing sometimes. I like to think for a while. Make a plan. Real in depth too.”

“Well, when you do start, we want to be the first ones to read it,” Calum smiles.

“I will make that happen,” I take a sip of my wine before getting to my pizza.

“I can’t believe you came all the way over to Australia to get an education to write,” Michael says.

“It takes a lot to write a good book,” Luke says.

“It does,” I nod. “Luke is right. There’s a lot to learn about all the elements of a book. A never ending list of words to learn. Plus, I wanted to explore the world, so coming here was a no brainer.”

          “Why here?” Michael asks.

“Because it was the only college out of the country that accepted my application.”

“I can’t believe that,” Ashton says.

“It’s the truth,” I sigh. “Many colleges in the country accepted me. It was going to be very difficult to choose if no one out of the country accepted me. But, Australia did. I couldn’t believe it. I accepted the second I read through the acceptation email.”

“Sometime I wished I had gone to college,” Ashton nuzzles into my neck and plants a few kisses. “But I didn’t need to. I’m so glad you did though, lovely,” he pulls away from me.

“So am I,” I smile. For you. For my father. For the great adventures I’ve been having.

“Alright, enough of this gross romantic stuff,” Michael chuckles. “Someone turn on the TV.”

“It did get a bit romantic, and serious,” I smile.

“I’ll turn it on,” Ashton grabs the remote and quickly turns on the TV.

“Anything but the news,” Luke says.
