33. Chapter 32
I laugh as Ashton's dog,Indie, licks my face. "Hey! Indie! You're supposed to play with me!" Calum says. "Not anymore!" I tell him. We laugh."Okay, that's enough playing. Let's go back to the garage where the others are." Ashton tells us. "But,Aaaaaaasssshhhhhhh." Calum complains. I get up and follow them to Ashton's garage. They play a little bit more and we talk about things. Like your next summer. They've decided to go,and I'm allowed to go,but we don't know about Allison. She might have to go to Melbourne to visit family, since she lives in Sydney now. But so far, most of us are going. "Hopefully I'm able to go." Allison says. "We'll talk to you as much as we can if you don't." Michael reminds her. She smiles.
I pick up a piece of chalk and walk to the edge of the yard and sit. I begin drawing on the road. I also use other colours. I made a flower,an airplane, and the 5SOS band logo. I smile. I put the chalk away and sit at the tree. All alone. After a few minutes,I go inside. I go upstairs and find Michael in his room, deciding what color to dye his hair next. I quietly leave him alone and go downstairs. I sit down and play the piano for awhile. "Why don't you sing a song?" Michael says, scaring me. He sits beside me. "I'm not a very good singer. I'm just a pianist." I tell him. "You know Good Girls, right?" He asks and I nod. "Sing it. You don't even have to play." I shake my head. "No. I only sing when I'm alone." I say. He smiles and rolls his eyes. "Fine. I'm gonna go get pizza in a few minutes," He gets up and leaves. I consider singing, but I just sit there. Just singing a little melody. Quietly. Michael comes down and I get up. "Don't burn the house down." He says, closing the door behind him. I laugh and go to the basement. The computer is on and it has a play button on the screen. I narrow my eyes and press it. Nothing happens. I shrug and go back upstairs, but I hear something. Laughter. I go back downstairs and the screen has a few faces. My father,my mother, and my sister. Before I was born. I tilt my head as I move closer to the screen. As the faces become clearer and clearer,I smile. My sister and mother's faces never really appeared in my head for years now. My eyes tear up and I wipe away the tears and press pause. I close the tab and sit on the steps. My phone rings. Ash. I ignore it,but I don't know why. A notification pops up after a minute or so for a new voicemail. I click it and Ashton's voice makes me smile. "Hey,what's up? Just missing you. Maybe you could come over later. We could watch a movie. Call when you can. Love you." I smile.
Ashton wraps his arms around me. "Don't worry, cutie. It's just a movie," He whispers. I hide my face in his chest. "I'll turn it off." He turns it off and I smile. "You wanted to watch it." I tell him. "But you didn't." I kiss him. "So." I say. "So." He repeats. We giggle. We go outside and just hang out. Walking around. "I'm gonna go home and sleep. Night boo." I say. "Good night." He tells me and kisses my cheek. I walk inside and Michael is playing the piano. I close the door quietly and just stand against it. "Nice song." I say, scaring him. "Don't do that!" He exclaims. I laugh. I walk upstairs and go into my room. I change into pajamas and watch YouTube videos. There's a knock at my door. "Come in." I say. Michael walks in. "Hey. Whatcha doing?" I close my laptop. "I was just watching some YouTube, why?" He shrugs and leaves. I nod slowly and turn off my light to go to bed.
