1. Once I Knew A Boy

Once I knew a boy
His skin was pale as day
His eyes were dark as night
When he would waste away

Once I knew a boy
With buckles on his trousers
They stopped before his ankles
As his legs were tall as towers

Once I knew a boy
Who would run around his room
Said he was an airplane
But he lived in gloom

Once I knew a boy
Who would draw lots of pictures
The paper his escape
As he wrote down the scriptures

Once I knew a boy
Who would sit alone in the corner
His mind wandered elsewhere
His imagination his armour

Once I knew a boy
Who would sing haunting sounds
The birds in the trees would fly away
And the moles back in the ground

Once I knew a boy
Who tugged at his sleeves
He didn't want people to know
What was really underneath

Once I knew a boy
Who had scars on his wrist
Who's war was in his head
And his pain a pure bliss

Once I knew a boy
That lived in peace
He knew the world was not fair
And that's the way it is
