Over 100,000 people rallied in a grand gathering at the Bourget convention center in Paris for the “Free Iran” rally on Saturday, July 9th, showing the world how a united, strong opposition stands against the mullahs ruling Iran and is devoted to realizing regime change in Tehran aimed at toppling the mullahs once and for all. This rally, organized and sponsored each year by the Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), gathered hundreds of senior politicians, current and former leaders and officials, lawmakers and human rights advocates from America, Europe, the Middle East and beyond.
As the crowd went wild welcoming NCRI President Maryam Rajavi’s remarks, she met all their expectations by delivering a powerful speech as always.
“Every single day and night, my mind is preoccupied with the hope and anticipation that I will one day be able to fulfill this responsibility, a responsibility that I have to you, the Iranian people, to history and to God Almighty. I have come to convey the words of those who have not been heard, those who are the decisive force in Iran; the words of those who have been oppressed, but whose resolve will change the face of Iran. In this endeavor, I rely on your determination and conviction and I want you to know that I rely on, and need each and every one of you,” she added.
A large number of known dignitaries from 5 continents and dozens of countries represented their respected countries and voiced their all-out support for the NCRI cause championed by Maryam Rajavi, the charismatic Iranian opposition leader. She has been able to gain the support of thousands of politicians and lawmakers across the globe for her famous 10-point plan for a future Iran.
Former House speaker and presidential candidate Newt Gingrich; former Democratic National Committee chairman and presidential candidate Gov. Howard Dean; former energy secretary and ambassador to the U.N. Gov. Bill Richardson; former deputy secretary of state and ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton; former attorney general Judge Michael Mukasey; the first American homeland security secretary Gov. Tom Ridge; former FBI director Louis Freeh; former White House homeland security and counterterrorism advisor Frances Townsend; former Marine commandant General Conway; former army chief of staff and former commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, General George Casey were amongst the long slate of others participated in this rally from the United States.
Major delegations represented the countries of Spain, Switzerland, France, Romania, Poland, Norway, Estonia, Albania, Malt, the Netherlands, Portugal, Australia and also a variety of Arab and Islamic countries.
“The NCRI is the only opposition force that Mullahs fear and this shows that the PMOI is not only the main enemy of the Mullahs, but they are the only alternative. I’ve been attending to this annual gathering every year and I am very glad to observe the influence it has inside Iran and even the political prisoners who are suffering from torture every day, has sent messages to support this gathering and our hear is with them” said former European Parliament Vice President Alejo Vidal-Quadras in the rally.
