“I’m going to Fitzgerald’s Simon that’s why I’m calling you. John is coming out for a couple.’

“Good said Simon, I will see you there about seven; get me a pint in.’

“Will do.’

“Well he sounds a lot better than when I saw him last.’

“Bobby sat at the table as Maggie served the tea.’

“Where’s the ketchup?’

“Do you always have to put sauce on everything?’

“It wouldn’t taste the same without sauce would it Steve?’

“You’re absolutely right there Bobby.’ Pass it over when you are done will you.’

“I don’t know why I bother said Maggie as she poured them both a cup of tea.’

After tea Bobby went to his room and closed the door he picked up his mobile phone and rang a number.

Hi can I speak with Norman Ryder please, yes tell him Its Bobby Wray.’

There was a pause then Norman came on the phone.

Hey Cowboy how you doin’ he said in a cockney accent.’

Look Norman I want you to take care of a problem that I have.’

“Anyone we know?’

“No it’s a woman, she’s called Lucy Jackson. Bobby gave him the details and told him that he’d be paid after the job was done.’

“Don’t worry mate it will be taken care of.’

Bobby hung up and smiled; he took out his comb then combed his hair, he went to the bathroom and cleaned his teeth again then put on his black leather Jacket and his boots.

“Are you ready to rock and roll said Bobby.’

“Give me a minute will you Bob, just got to get my coat.’

“I’ll be waiting in the car.’ See you later Maggie.’

Bobby was out the door and opening the car door and sitting in the driver’s seat before Steve came out; he got in and Bobby pulled away turning the car around he drove the quick way to Johns house.’

It started to rain so Bobby turned on the windscreen wipers;

“Bloody English weather, there’s never two days the same.’

Hopefully it will stop by the time we get to West Monkseaton.’

“I hope so I hate the rain.’

“Not good for the pub trade either said Bobby.’

No, that’s another thing that keeps people in doors.’

They pulled up outside of John’s house and bobby honked the horn and waited.’

The curtain moved in the front then John came running out with his coat on.

“It’s pissing it doon mate.’

“We know, get in quick.’

“John got into the back and Bobby swung the car to the left of St Peters Church then drove towards Billy mill and the coast road.’

“This is my sister’s husband Steve, John.’

“Hi Steve said John; you work for the council don’t you?’

“Not now John, My sister and I just bought the Black Bull in West Monkseaton.’

“Congratulations; hard work though the pub trade.’
