It was all so fast. People running, grabbing guns. We hardly have any ammunition left. I grabbed a small pistol off of a nearby shelf and ran to the safe room. It’s a maze, and I’m off balance. I stumble in to walls and doors. There is a guy in uniform to my left. I tell myself to aim at his knee caps. I miss and get him in the thigh. He falls to the ground and curses.
I kept running. I saw Kyle. I ran toward him as he fired two shots at two men on his right.
“Kyle!” I yelled.
“Come on!” He yelled back.
I reached him and we ran together. I realized I was faster than him, so I slowed my pace slightly so he wouldn’t be left behind. We reared another corner where three men were standing over Glenn and Zach. One of the men was punching Zach, the other, holding Glenn down. I shot one of the men in the back of the leg, and Kyle got the other two. One in the side, one in the back knee.
We turned around to check behind us and there were four men. We didn’t have enough ammo to take them on, so we turned to go back the other way. There were six men that way. There wasn’t another way out. We were cornered. I had one bullet left, and Kyle had two. We decided to charge at the four men. We were too late though.
The group of six came behind us and grabbed my hair, pulling me back in to a man’s arms as I dropped the gun. Kyle held his gun up at the men. I was gasping for air. The man was holding me very tightly against his chest, pressing against my neck with his forearm.
“Let her go or I’ll shoot!” Kyle demanded
Kyle apparently forgot about the men behind us, because Kyle was grabbed by the neck and pulled back into another man’s chest. Kyle’s gun was dropped, just like mine, and we were helpless. I turned my eyes to see if Glenn and Zach were still there, but they had scampered off.
“This one is pretty isn’t she?” The man holding me said to Kyle.
“Is she your girlfriend?” The man holding Kyle asked with a vicious grin scrolling across his face.
“Love is a sickening disease! It’ll kill you! It rots your brain until you can’t think straight. You do crazy things and don’t know why.” Another man with a large tattoo across his left shoulder spits.
“Would you be okay if we just snapped her neck right now?” The man strangling me turned to Kyle.
Kyle struggled harder, but it was to no avail. The man’s grip was too strong. I was filled with panic. Fear bubbled inside of me until I felt a salty tear trickle down my cheek. If I wasn’t being strangled to death, I would cry. Kyle tried to scratch the man’s hands, trying to force him to let go, but the man’s grip only grew stronger.
“One snap is all it takes boy, and your girl is dead.” A man in the back said with a slur.
“Goodnight.” The man pressing against me said.
The lights went out, and I lost all feelings. I went absolutely limp. I saw Kyle struggling harder and harder. But nothing worked. I couldn’t struggle anymore. Everything was black.
