It was getting late. All of us were done swimming. Calum and I decided to head back to his house. I said goodbye to the girls and the boys, then Calum and I left.
The drive back to Calum's place was short.
We both walked into his house and looked at each other.
"So what do you want to do?" Calum asked softly.
"We could play video games." I suggest. "Or just hang out."
"Okay, I'm gonna change into something more comfortable." Calum said.
"Okay, I will too, meet back here?" I asked.
"Yeah." Calum smiled.
I walked into the bathroom and put on my pajamas. A pair of black pajama shorts and a Misfits t-shirt. I sighed and walked out of the bathroom while raking my fingers through my hair. Slowly I made my way to the family room, looking at all the pictures on the walls. One picture caught my eye.
It was of Calum and I when we were little things. My hair was bleach blond then, witch is my natural hair color. We were sitting in Calum's yard eating cookies. I remember that day.
"Sweetie, Calum is out side do you want to go play?" My mum asked.
"Yeah!" I cheered.
I ran over and grabbed my shoes, then ran outside. Calum was standing by my front door waiting.
"Hi Apwil." He said, still unable to pronounce my name correctly.
"Hi Calum." I said back.
"Wanna play?" He asked.
"Yeah!" I cheered again.
The two of us raced to Calum's yard. My mom walked over with us so she could chat with Joy, Calum's mum.
Calum and I were jumping around and having the best of fun.
"Kids, I made cookies." Calum's mum called.
She brought them out to us in the yard, and my mum put down a blanket for us to sit on. Calum and I stuffed out faces with cookies the minuet they were in reach.
I stood there looking at the picture. Calum walked up behind me.
"Gosh, I sure was cute." He said.
I laughed and pushed him away.
"You ass hole." I said laughing.
Calum joined in the laughter.
"Hey, I have a question." I said.
"Remember when I asked if you guys had any new songs, and Luke said no, but then you winked at me?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, I have a new song, I just... I don't know if it's good." Calum said.
"Typical Calum, thinking his songs are bad. Well let's hear it." I said.
"Now?!" He asked.
"Yes now!" I demanded.
"Oh, okay!" He said, getting excited.
He grabbed my hand and ran up the steps and to his room.
I flopped onto his bed and waited while he grabbed is old guitar. He sat down next to me, but I was laying on my stomach.
"Okay, so it's called Unpredictable." He said.
"Good title." I commented.
He strummed a few chords and then started to sing. I laid there with my eyes closed and listens to the words.
She sits at home with the lights out, seeing life in different colors.
He continued with the pretty words that rang in and out of my ears. My heart was racing an my whole body shaking.
The song ended.
I slowly opens my eyes, with tears quickly following. I quickly sat up and covered my mouth with my hands. Tears rushing out of my eyes like a thunderstorm.
"April? April!" Calum started. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"
"No, no, I'm fine, that song just, gosh I don't know, it was really nice, it was great." I said.
"Oh! Uh, thanks." Calum said, his cheeks pink. "So uh do you wanna go play video games now?"
I laughed a little. "Yeah."
We both walked down the steps and into the living room. Calum grabbed some controllers while I put in a random game to play.
"APRIL WHAT WERE YOU THINKING" My mum yelled. "DID YOU TAKE YOUR MEDICINE."
"NO, I DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO BE WRONG WITH ME." I yelled back.
"THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN GO AND DO THIS TO YOUR HAIR." She said, pointing out my hair, witch I had cut shorter and died orange.
"AHH." I screamed, running up to my room and falling into my bed.
It had been about 15 minutes when I heard my mum talking in a soft voice downstairs. Then I herd someone walking up to my room. My door opened and I looked over to see who it was.
"What are you doing sitting in your room in the dark?" Calum asked.
"Why do you care." I scoffed.
He didn't say anything, but came and sat down next to me.
"I like your new hair." He said playing with a strand.
I stayed quiet. I wanted to tell him, but at the same time I didn't. I didn't want him to know.
"Orange really suits you." Calum said.
"It's not orange." I said.
"It's any color your mind wants it to be at any time, you're aloud to see life in different colors." I said.
"Just, just like you." Calum said quietly.
I looked over at Calum, who was focused on the tv. I still haven't told him, I still don't want him to know.
Me and him have been friends for ever, so why do I feel like I can't tell him.
We started to play FIFA, witch I suck at. I won one game though, and I was really proud. A few more rounds were played, but we're all were lost by me.
I checked my phone and it was about 12:15.
"Tired?" Calum asked.
"Not really. What do you want to do now?" I asked.
"We could watch some movies." Calum suggested.
"Okay." I smiled.
We both got up and grabbed a bunch of movies, blankets, pillows, and ordered a pizza.
"You think that the pizza guy is mad that we ordered a pizza at like 1 am?" Calum asked, laughing a bit.
"If he does, then no tip." I stated.
Calum started to laugh as he walked off to get some sodas. While he was gone I ran to the bathroom. I quickly got a small cup of water and grabbed the small bottle from my bag.
"April?" Calum called.
"Hey, sorry I had to go to the bathroom." I said walking back into the living room.
"Oh alright, ready for some scary movies?" He asked.
"Yup." I smiled. "Let's do this."
Of course we had to watch Jeepers Creepers, they were old movies but they still scared me.
We were half way into the movie and I could feel the jump scare coming.
Shit shit shit.
Calum just sat there, completely relaxed.
The one guy was in this hole under this church, and there was scary music in the background. All of the sudden jump scare, and the door bell rang at the same time.
I literally screamed.
Calum jumped up and grabbed me, putting his hand over my mouth.
"Shhh." He laughed. "It's probably the pizza."
He stood up and walked over to the door. I jumped up and followed him so I didn't have to be alone in the dark room.
Calum opens the door and the smell of pizza rushed through the house.
"Mmm." I mumbled.
Calum pulled out $20 and handed it to the guy.
"Thanks mate." Calum said.
"No problem." The pizza guy said.
He looked over at me, and got this huge smile on his face, then looked back at Calum.
He chuckled a bit and gave Calum the 'good job man, you're gonna get laid' face, and said, "Have a great night man."
Then he walked off to his car.
Calum closed the door with the pizza and looked down at me. I had a angry face.
"What's wrong?" Calum asked.
"Did you see what he did?" I asked.
"No." Calum said.
"He said to 'have a great night' because he thinks we are gonna have sex." I scoffed.
Calum frozen dead in his tracks. Then he bursts out in laughter.
"Wow, what a stupid guy, he thinks that you're my girlfriend." Calum said laughing, then walked passed me to set down the food.
We both walked back into the living room and sat on the couch.
"Ready to finish these movies?!" I asked all excited.
"Yeah!" Calum said.
But something was up. I had never seen a smile to fake. I had never heard excitement so unrealistic. I had never seen Calum act so fake. What happened, he was just happy and laughing? What's wrong?
