Please tell me why we think girls must skip down the road, and the world thinks we are all happy.
I choose to walk.
I walk to school.
I do not choose to walk to school, but simply I must. Given I'm to scared to do anything that is rebellious.
You would think that all juniors would be rebellious because we have been in high school for two years now. But not me, I just couldn't be. I worried to much about getting in trouble.
It wouldn't be any different though. At school or not I would still thrive in my imagination. I had big dreams, and in my imagination, I could live them.
I always listen to music while I walk to school, well I blare it into my ears. I was walking to the beat of Car Radio by Twenty One Pilots. Because I was trying to be cool, I almost tripped over my own two feet. Good thing no one is out to see.
It took a few more minutes but in time I got to school. The teachers would let us in the building at 7:45 and it was only 7:17. I liked getting to school early because I could just sit alone, until my friends got here. I sat under the big tree on the far side of the campus. The petals fell as I sat in the trees shade. There was only faint talking in the background, but would soon end as the groups of teens grew.
Footsteps got louder but I was to concentrated on a falling leaf to notice.
A boy collapsing in front of me did though.
I almost screamed thinking that he was dead. He made a unpleasant groan, then looked up at me.
"God damn it Luke, you scared the crap out of me." I yelled.
"Sorry." He groaned.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"He's been like that all morning." Ashton said.
"Oh, what's wrong Luke?" I asked again.
"I think I'm pregnant." He whined.
"Luke you can't be pregnant, unless I'm right and you really are a girl." Calum laughed.
"Then what's mutating inside me?" He said in agony.
"Nothing Luke, gosh." Michael said, rolling his eyes.
"Hey, April, are you wearing a skirt?" Calum asked.
"Yes! My mum made me." I said, mumbling the last part.
The four boys laughed at my innocents.
"Don't worry April I think you look cute." Michael said still laughing a little.
I stood up grabbing my bag. Gosh I was so short compared to them. I'm only 5'4 and the boys are all over 6 foot.
"Any new songs?" I asked.
"No, we are working on some stuff but nothing is finished yet." Luke said.
I'm not going to lie, when Luke said they didn't have any new songs I was a little upset. The boys were in a band together and not only were they awesome people, they made awesome music.
I looked up at Calum and he was smiling devilishly.
What are you up to?
I gave him a questioning look. He winked at me then looked away, as if it didn't happen. I just shrugged and continued with the conversation that the boys were having.
"Luke you cant have a baby inside you." Michael said.
"But Michael!" Luke whined.
"How is that even possible?" Michael questioned.
"You're the father Michael." Luke said bluntly.
We all looked at Luke shocked, then we looked at Michael. Michael looked at us while we stared at him. He put his hands up in surrender with wide eyes.
I started to laugh at what he did. Ashton joined in with his iconic giggle and Calum, Luke and Michael started to crack up too.
"Why am I your friend?" Michael said while laughing.
I checked my phone to see what time it was. It was 7:48.
"Hey guys, we can go inside now." I said.
They all picked up there stuff and sling it over there shoulders. We started to walk up to the door, and soon entered.
The building was crowded and smelled like a mix of Axe and perfume. I swerved through the swarms of people and got to my locker. I shoved some crap into it then grabbed a few books. I didn't look into the small mirror on the side, because I didn't want to see the horrible face that would stare back. I turned around while closing my locker. Calum and Luke stood there waiting for me.
"Hey." Calum said smiling.
I smiled back at him.
Luke, Calum and I all had the same first class. So we would walk together.
I walked in the middle of both of them.
"So are we gonna hang out this weekend?" Luke asked.
"I hope, I'm free if we do." I said.
"Are we gonna like go out or just hang out at someone's house?" Calum asked.
"We should just hang out at someone's house, I don't feel like going out in public." I said.
"Sound good." Luke said.
"We can chill at my house." Calum suggested.
"Okay." Luke and I both agreed.
We waked into the little classroom with students in every corner. Calum, Luke and I found a small table in the back corner of the room. I sat down in one of the three seats and pulled out my science book and folder. Calum and Luke did the same.
The bell rang for class to begin, and our teacher walked in. Mrs. Mag set her bag on her desk and then inspected the room. She looked back at me and the boys. I tensed a little, hoping she wouldn't notice me. Calum and Luke weren't much help, given the fact they waved like children when she looked at us.
Thankfully the class was easy and quick. I was only called on a few times, and I actually knew the answers!
My next two classes consisted of me sitting in the back daydreaming. I was invisible though, so I was never called on. It was an advantage for me.
The bell rang ending my third hour. I jumped out of my seat grabbing my bag. I walked through the halls with a little pep in my step. It was time for lunch, and I was exited to see my friends.
I walked into the lunchroom, scanning the room for the boys.
"APRIL!" Someone yelled.
I looked over in the direction of the voice. I saw Calum, Ashton, and Luke waving to catch my attention, and Michael face deep in food. I walked over to them and sat down in between Calum and Ashton.
"Hey guys." I said as I sat down.
"Welcome to lunch!" Ashton called.
"April will you please tell Luke he is fine." Michael said.
"I'm not fine." Luke groaned.
"Well I don't know what to do Luke." I said shrugging.
"Uhhh." He said, muffled by his face in his book bag.
"April, do have a lunch?" Calum asked.
"No." I said.
"Aren't you hungry?" He asked.
"A little." I shrugged.
"Here." Calum said, placing half a sandwich in front of me.
"Calum I don't nee-"
"Eat it." He said.
"Fine." I gave up.
I didn't want him to think I needed the charity, but I was hungry. So I ate it.
The boys and I continued to talk through the lunch hour.
The bell rang, ending our joy of each others company. I stood up, as did the boys.
"Bye, see you guys later." I said while waving.
"Bye." Calum called.
"Later hater." Ashton laughed.
"Bye April." Michael said.
"Mhff." Luke groaned.
That was that, we all parted ways for the time being. I walked out of the café and down the hall. While passing by the court yard I stopped and looked out the window at a dying flower. I stood there and just stared at it for a while.
Some of the petals fell off in the wind.
It looked like it was going to brake from the stem, and fall to the ground.
"April! Hey April!"
I was ripped from my concentration, by my name being called.
"Oh, hey Katie." I said look up from the window.
"Hi, what were you looking at?" She asked.
"Oh, just the flowers, what's up." I said.
"Well I saw you in the hallway and thought we could walk to English together." Katie smiled.
"Yeah sounds good."
We started to walk to the English room. Down the hall and around the corner.
As we entered the room I looked down at my feet. I didn't want to make eye contact with the popular girls in the room.
I successfully made it to my seat, and sat down. The teacher walked in and immediately started class.
I'll spare you the time, the rest of the day was a shitty school day.
I walked off from my locker ready to start my journey home. I sighed because I had to walk, and I didn't have the mental energy to.
"April!" Someone called.
I turned around and saw Calum rushing up to me.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Want a ride home?" He asked.
"N-no Cal that's okay." I said.
"Oh come on, it's not like it's out of the way, you literally live right across the street from me." He said.
"O-okay then, thanks." I smiled.
"No problem." Calum said.
We walked out to the small parking lot on the side of the school building, and up to his car. I hopped into the front seat, while Calum sat in the drivers seat. He put the key in the car, and instantly Blink 182 started playing. I looked over at him laughing while he just sat there a little embarrassed. The song Down was playing.
Calum and I started to sing and jam out to the song on the ride home. I loved listening to music with the boys, because we were all music fanatics.
Calum pulled up to my house and stopped.
"Well thanks for the ride, and I will call you if we make plans for this weekend." I said.
"Wait, April. I have a question." Calum said.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"My parents and sister are leaving tomorrow early in the morning because they are heading out of town for one of my sisters music things, and I wanted to know if you wanted to spend the night? So... I don't have to be alone." Calum asked.
"Yeah, I'd love to come over!" I said. "Any time I should?"
"Whenever is fine." Calum said.
"Alright, see you tomorrow." I said, then opens the car door.
"Bye." Calum said.
"Later." I smiled.
Then walked up to my house as Calum pulled into the drive way.
Till tomorrow, I'll be alone. Mentally, with no one. Hopefully till tomorrow. I don't think I can wait any longer. Till tomorrow.
