As I was led to the door of the kitchen, I could not help but gaze at the castle. There were so many extravagant rooms full of luscious silks and scents. The maid stopped abruptly and turned around and saw me gazing.
"Now now, I know the castle is interesting but we have no time for diddle dattle. You will come by these rooms many times and lose interest. Quickly please."
I blush and follow her to the door at the end of the hall. As soon as we enter the kitchen heat and the scent of herbs hit my nose immediately.
"Emily, could you please show Miss-"
"-Yes yes Miss Blackmaid the servant quarters and help her with her new uniform."
A cheery, red faced girl with red flaming hair come out from behind a curtain with a smile.
"Hello, I'm Emily. I'm going to be your bunk partner."
"Um hi, I'm Rose..."
"A little shy I see. No worries, by the end of the week, it will be as if you lived here forever."
She seems friendly.
I follow her around the twists and turns of each hall that seemed endless then bump into a hard warm wall.
"Watch where you're going servant."
I look up and stare. The 'wall' that I bumped into has fierce, piercing blue eyes and dark brown hair. He had a sharp jaw, and muscular arms. Oh my, now I've angered the gods.
"Oh, I'm sorry your highness. It won't happen again." Emily says, snapping me out of my daze.
"Oh yes your highness. I'm truly sorry." I curtsy.
"Huh. Save it." He growls then walks away.
As soon as he walked away, Emily sighed in relief.
"Try to stay away from that bugger. He's no good." Emily warns.
"Why? What's so bad about him?"
"Hurry, or we'll be late for supper."
I realized that he was rude and arrogant, but I could not keep my mind off him that evening.
