I finished eating my pizza and put my plate in the sink.
"So when do we start looking for The Mortal Cup?" I asked. Alec only shook his head.
"The more I think about it, the better it is that you should just stay a warlock. You might not survive the transformation of becoming a shadowhunter." he said. I just looked at him. Not survive. I'm the toughest girl at school. I think I can handle The Mortal Cup.
"Papa. I can handle it, okay?" I said. He shook his head.
"What if you get hurt or killed? Magnus would kill me. Not really but he would come really close." He said.
"He would never kill you."
"Me or you? Magnus would choose you." I just stood there. Magnus sounds like a pretty mean guy. Maybe I'll never have to meet him.
"Who is Magnus anyway?" I asked.
"Papa, I didn't know you rolled that way." I said.
"Lets just find The Mortal Cup later. Here's your next note." He reached to an envelop on the counter. He then proceeded to hand it to me but stopped mid give.
"Papa, just give me the note." I demanded. He hesitated then handed it over. I quickly tore it open.
My dearest Kylie,
I bet Alec was hesitant to give this to you. You'll understand by the end of the day. Find your you-didn't-know-she-was Grandma Maryse because guess what? She's a homophobic. I swear. Alec hasn't talked to here in at least eighteen years. So yeah. Find Maryse Lightwood.
I ran to the institute. She was a Lightwood. Just like Alec. Well Alec was. He's Alec Bane now. I pushed open the doors of the old church. There right at the entrance was Maryse Lightwood. I walked up to her but looked down.
"Look up, young lady."
"Yes, ma'am." I said. I slowly looked up.
"You look like the man who took my son away from me. He changed him beyond repair. Stupid Magnus." She said. "Take your stupid gift from your stupid father. And take this note. Now get out of my sight." She handed me everything and left. I opened the gift bag and found a leather jacket. On the back words were embroidered in it.
Bane - Lightwood
My last name. I slipped on the jacket and opened the note.
My dearest Kylie,
The jacket was actually picked out by your Grandmother. Surprisingly. Go to your bed room.
I ran to my house and sprinted to the bedroom and found...
