A/N: Here’s where the manga spoilers come in. Be warned. This chapter is also short.
Reyna walked down the street. Levi was a criminal now, which honestly made Reyna laugh. She found some of the cadets from the 104th near the horse stables. “Hey!”
They noticed her and saluted. “Ackerman!”
She took notice of the cloaks and hats they wore to hide themselves. A clever trick. Reyna suspected Armin came up with the idea. She herself had a drab brown cloak on, her hood pulled up and the long cloak covering her 3DMG.
“Where’s Levi?” Reyna asked, sitting next to the blonde. Armin looked at her then to a rooftop.
“He’s in position with Nifa.” He replied.
Reyna laughed to herself, smiling at the cadets reassuringly. “Armin, you and Nifa look a lot alike.”
“You’re not the first to point it out.” Jean replied.
Reyna quickly checked her gas, standing and re-tightening her straps. “Well, I’m heading towards Levi and Nifa. You all,” She looked at them with a gaze of worry. “Please. Stay safe.”
“We’ll try, Miss. Reyna.” Sasha replied, Jean, Mikasa, and Armin nodding.
Reyna gave them one last smile. If she’d known, she would’ve hugged each of them and thanked them for their strength and their willingness to give up their lives.
She would’ve said goodbye.
Once Reyna was in an alleyway, she used her gear to propel herself onto the roof, walking up to Nifa and Levi.
“We almost lost track of them before. It’s a good thing you found this spot, captain.” Nifa remarked to Levi. “But it’s somewhat strange…”
“This seems very different from what the brigade usually does.” Reyna finished. Nifa turned and nodded to Reyna as she sat next to the girl. Reyna turned and gave Levi a brief smile.
Levi whispered to Reyna. “I think it’s him.”
Reyna sucked in a breath, nodding. She was hoping that wasn’t the case.
Levi turned to Nifa. “Do you know throat-slasher Kenny?”
“Eh? The serial killer within the capital? I heard that 100 MP members had their throats slashed trying to catch him.” Nifa replied, turning and looking at the two.
“There is such a person.” Reyna sighed.
“Eh??” Nifa asked, confused.
Reyna looked at Levi before turning to Nifa. “We lived with him when we were younger.”
“Captain, Reyna, you guys are really something, joking at a time like this.”
Reyna closed her eyes, trying to block the memories away.
Suddenly, she heard Levi yell. “Reyna! Nifa-!”
Reyna turned just as two guns went off. Levi grabbed Reyna and pulled her away from the incoming bullet, whereas Nifa was not so lucky. Her face was blown off by the bullet, blood flying. Reyna felt some of the red liquid land on her cheek as she and Levi stared in horror. Reyna turned and buried her face in Levi’s chest as she heard several gunshots go off, killing many of their comrades.
Reyna squeezed her eyes shut, hoping she could just hide, disappear in Levi’s arms.
“You and Reyna grew up.”
Levi unsheathed a blade, ready to protect his sister.
